I'd been living in Toronto for about a year.

I had treatment for my speedy heartbeat.

The only thing I hadn't done to fix it was have surgery.

I was nervous to say the least when I finally agreed to have surgery.

Today was the day.

Ashton was on break so he came to support me, and Blake video chatted me until it was time.

A knock on the door.

"Miss Frey, we're ready for you know,"

I nodded, fiddling with my fingers nervously.

"I'll see you soon,"

He gently took one of my shaky hands and gave me a small smile.

"But what if you don't?"

Being my usual overly anxious and skeptical person, I, of course, asked him this.

He rolled his eyes slightly.

"With that attitude you won't,"

I scoffed, "You sound like my parents,"

He let out a chuckle.

I saw two nurses come into the room to push my bed to the operating room.

I kept my eyes on Ashton, not really wanting to let go of his hand.

The next thing I know I'm waking up with Ashton and my parents chatting quietly.

Yeah, he met my parents a while ago.

I introduced him as a friend despite us having a sort of friends with benefits relationship.

Both my mom and my dad teased us about being perfect together.

We always laughed it off, blushing.

Ashton also promised that I'd get to meet his family when I had done surgery, and he would have to be with me at all times making sure I didn't go into cardiac arrest.

They all noticed I had woken up and hugged me saying that the results from the doctors we'd all positive.

Nothing went wrong. The surgery was smooth.

I inwardly let out a sigh of relief. Ashton patted my hand, smiling lopsidedly up at me.

I smiled back.

"So when are we going to Australia?"

He giggled, making me melt on the inside.

His crinkled eyes and smiling mouth made me wasn't to kiss him right then and there, but I refrained from doing so.

Instead I imagined it in my head. I smiled dreamily.

"Nikki?"

I snapped out of my daydream as quickly as I fell into it.

"What?" I singsonged.

"I just asked if you were hungry. Your dad and I were going to head to the cafeteria,"

I shook my head and waited until the door closed.

Immediately I grabbed Ashton and kissed him with all the strength and passion I had in me.

He cupped my face when his hands.

When we both drew back to breathe, I began to blush.

No joke, my cheeks were redder than my hair.

"Hey, mom, dad,"

I smiled awkwardly.

My parents didn't reply and closed the door, but I swore I could've heard my mom.

"Now you owe me $50 bucks, Carl,"
