It had been exactly 28 minutes and 49 seconds since Ashton had gone with the officer, according to my watch. At that moment I decided I wasn't going to wait any longer. I buzzed for the nurse.
"Yes?"
An African American woman that I'd found out was named Elsie popped her head in the room.
"I want to go to the police station,"
"Pardon me for asking but why?"
"You saw the fight happen. I need to go help Ashton out...after all he saved me,"
Her face softened. Everyone's did when you played the bittersweet love story card. She sighed.
"Miss Nikki, with your ribs it would not be the smartest thing to move at all considering you'd have to sit up in a wheel chair,"
"C'mon Elsie, please, I can't lose him,"
Elsie spared me a pitiful glance.
"Fine,"
Ashton
I nervously sat in a little waiting area. My leg was bouncing rapidly and it seemed 10 degrees hotter than it actually was.
"Ashton Irwin?"
I gulped.
"Coming,"
I told myself to calm down, that seemed impossible. The woman led me to a room, an office. I realized she was the officer from before.
"You said something about abuse?"
"Yes, yes I did,"
(au: lol reminded me of Phineas and Ferb)
The rest just seemed to spill out.
Nikki
"Which room is Ashton Irwin in?"
The man at the front desk stared at me.
"You do realize that this is a police station not a hospital, right?"
I wasn't sure if he was making light of my state: huge red cast, wheelchair, and brace around my whole torso, by the way. Or if the question was invalid here.
"Yes, I know! I just need to see him because I was a witness of the fight too! Plus I'm his only friend or whatev—"
"Well actually we're here too,"
I wheeled around and who I saw caused me to faint.
