November 17

"Eli, I'm on my way there" you said, locking your front door. "Okay, baby, I'll see you when you get there. Love you." "Love you too." The call disconnected and you put your phone in your pocket. You started the engine to your car and pulled out of the driveway, getting onto the highway. 'We found love' by Rihanna came on and you started bobbing your head along to the beat. You stopped at a red light and waited for it to turn green. Right when it turned green you proceeded to cross the intersection to continue your short journey to the Giants training facility. However, when you pulled off, a city bus came barreling right towards you in the blink of an eye.

-
Bright lights blinded you as you woke up, blurry faces above you came into view as Eli and a doctor. "W-what happened?" you managed to ask. "You got into a car accident" Eli informed, face full of worry. The doctor who's name, tag read, Alexander Powell, lifted the blanket from over your legs. "Tell me if you can feel this.." He ran a pen down your leg.

You couldn't feel it on most parts, other parts it was faint.

"Well..it seems you've lost feeling in most parts of your legs, but with some physical therapy you'll be right back on your feet." You let out a sigh of relief, it was better than being fully paralyzed from the waist down. "Thank you Doctor" you added, as he left you two to yourselves. Eli's looked at you with glassy eyes. "Jennifer, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have asked you to come to the camp today. This wouldn't have happened if-" "Eli, stop. It wasn't your fault. I'm going to be okay, aright? Stop worrying so much" you said, stroking your fingers though his wavy, brown locks.

Two Months Later-January 16

The doctor was right.

It had been two months since the accident and you were slowly regaining feeling in your legs. Although it was had a bad accident you had survived and you were thankful for that. You even got to meet the bus driver who crashed into you. He was bawling about how sorry he was. It wasn't his fault though, he was on his way home from his route and the breaks failed. He offered to pay all the hospital bills, but you didn't want that from him. He was just an fifty year old man trying to make some money to help his sick wife. You didn't want to stress anyone for something they couldn't control. You looked at the clock, Eli was going to be late to the came again. "Eli! You're going to be late!" You knew he didn't want to leave because of your condition.

"I know, I just want make sure you're comfortable. Do you need anything before I go, are you hungry-" he rambled on. "Baby stop, I'm fine. You know my mom and brother are coming over in a few minutes, I'll be okay until then." He didn't look too sure. "Eli, I'll be right here the whole time until the get here" you added, lying a little, just so he would leave. He kissed you, before leaving out the house. You easily became bored with the show you were watching. The remote was laying on the coffee table a few feet away. Instead of wheeling yourself over to the remote you decided to walk to get it. "Okay, you can do this " you breathed, pushing yourself to get up. You took two wobbly steps towards the counter, your face beaming as you pushed yourself to walk each step. Before you could reach the table you tripped over the sofa's leg.

Your sight went black.

You could hear voices around you. It was you mom, sister, brother and Eli. You couldn't move. When you tried to open your mouth, nothing happened. You tried to force your brain to tell your eyes to open, they didn't respond. You knew you were in a coma. Every time you tried to move, nothing moved. You had practically given up trying to communicate. Sleep started to take over your body, you gave one last attempt. "Look she moved her finger!" (Y/S/N) called out. "I wonder if she can hear us" your brother added. 'Yes! I can hear you!' You wanted to scream desperately to let them know that you could hear them.

-

Everyday after that Eli was there, holding your hand and speaking softly to you, along with your family who never left your side.

"Jennifer" you could hear your mom start. "Eli is going to the Super Bowl, I know he was concerned about leaving you again but we knew that you wouldn't want him to be worrying about you." "That's great mom, I really want him to win, and to be there for his team, I'm not going anywhere" you replied in your head.

-

The day off the Super Bowl the nurses talked you too, and turned on the TV so you could hear, although you really wanted to see it too. "So Eli, tell us what you've been doing to get your team hype for the game? Any special speeches?" "Well, we came into the season with a chip on our shoulder, just ready to prove everyone wrong. But I really want to win this game for my girlfriend, Jennifer. All of my team mates want to win this game for her too. She's like family to them and I just want to say I love her so much. Jennifer if you can hear me, this one is for you."

Super Bowl XLII started, every play of the game you grew more anxious as the Patriots had the led with 2:42 left in the game. "The Giants need a score right here" the commentator commented. "Randy Moss in the end zone!.. Touchdown, Giants!" You could hear cheers from some of the nurses. However the game wasn't over yet. "Two seconds left in the game!..Tom Brady's throws a Hail Mary... And it is broken up by Gibril Wilson! The New York Giants have won Super Bowl 42!"

You could hear Coach Coughlin's speech and then you could hear them announce Eli as Super Bowl MVP. "This is a humbling moment, I give God all the glory for this win, it is truly amazing. And to my girlfriend, Jennifer, baby...this one is for you." You could hear the emotion in his voice. "I love you with all my heart" he finished. At that moment you opened your eyes, tears threatening to spill, your lips twitched into a smile. The nurse gasped when they saw you. "G-go get her family from the cafeteria!" she yelled to the other nurse outside. "She's awake!"

-

Eli came running into your room, practically throwing his travel bag aside as he ran to your side. "Jennifer, y-you're awake." He kissed every inch of your face. "I'll never leave your side again" he promised. "And I know we've only been together for a two years, but..I want to spend the rest of my life with you." He got down on one knee on the side of your bed. "Jennifer, will you make me the happiest man in the word, and become my wife?" You nodded. "Yes..Yes" you repeated over and over. He slipped the ring on your finger, then cupped your face in his hands to pull you into a sweet kiss.
