"Mom, dad, this is-" "Cam Newton!" she interrupted, standing in the doorway of her home wearing her Cam Newton jersey. You groaned mentally. "Come right it" she urged. "Don't mind my husband, Cam, he's a little-" "Hey Cam" your dad answered, fully decked out in his Saints jersey. The New Orleans Saints, who were the rival of the Panthers. You resisted the urge to face palm. Could your parents go one day without being weird? "Did you guys really need to wear your jerseys today?" you implored. "It's Sunday, Liz. You know we always were our jerseys on Sunday" your mom reminded. "We shouldn't have came here" you mumbled under your breath. Cam rubbed your hand with his thumb, reassuringly. You had warned him about these two. You both followed your parents to the kitchen where your mom had prepared some delicious soul food.

Your mouth watered at the delicious aromas, but Cam Newton memorabilia/merchandise hung around the kitchen. You ignored it. Your mom served the food to everyone before getting some to herself. "So Cam, how do you like playing for the Panthers?" you mother asked. "Mom-" "I love being in Carolina" he responded, lightly squeezing your hand under the table. "What do you want with my daughter?" your dad asked. "Sir, I'm madly in love your daughter, sir. I respect your daughter and I will do anything to make her the happiest woman in the world." Your dad managed to smile at that. "I hope you live up to those words Mr. Newton, if you don't I might just shove my foot up your-" "Okay!" your mother interrupted, "Let's try to keep this conversation clean." Your dad continued to eat. The rest of the dinner went on without a problem.

Once you had finished the dinner, you and Cam were getting ready to leave when your mom held you up to go find a sharpie marker so she could get an autograph. "Now you know what I have to deal with" you told Cam. "I think your parents are pretty funny" he revealed. "With the corny jokes they tell?" you scoffed. "I think they're funny." Your mom walked into the room. "I found one! I'm sorry Cam for holding you up." "I'm here too, mom" you reminded. Cam chuckled. "Oh, I almost forgot! Liz told me you were a big fan of the Panthers, so I decided to bring you a gift." Cam reached into his pocket and handed her handed her two tickets to the next Panthers game. Seats at the fifty yard line, behind the Panthers bench, sideline access, V.I.P parking, etc. You had a feeling that your mom was starting to love Cam more than you.
