Beautiful
Is just a word
A word
That may have meaning
It may make you feel indulged with happiness
Give you hope
Give you strength
But then again
Aren't those just words too?
Sticks and Stones can break my bones but nothing more nothing less
Oh how wrong they were
Telling you how beautiful you were as a child
Or
Showing you how beautiful you could be on the blank screen called a TV
Oh how wrong they were
To tell you that you that you could be beautiful without any makeup on or sparkly jewels
Or
To be beautiful you had to look inside yourself
Because inside yourself was a being of pure beauty
Oh how wrong they were
Painting beautiful pictures of ladies you'd never seen saying "Mommy, am I that pretty too?"
She'd nod with a small reply
Oh how wrong that was
For you see
Beauty is just a word
Not a thing we can express with a being
Or a canvas
Or with TV
Beautiful is just a word
And nothing more
It may have meaning
But aren't those just words too?
