Chapter 9: Broken Souls Can Mend

Sub's POV

I was on my way to my house thinking about Y/N. I thought about how she almost said "I love you" but instead she said "goodbye". She could have told me, I wouldn't have been anything but greatful. Sometimes, I want to think that she knew that. I coudn't get it out of my mind even though I wanted to.

I was approaching my house. I walked onto the porch and knocked just to make sure my new parents weren't there. Sure enough, a lady I have never seen before opened the door. She smiled at me with her crooked teeth. She looked to be about 50-60 years old but I guess it doesn't matter. "You must be Sub!" I nodded and smiled a little. I walked inside and was seated next to my current mom. She smiled at e with gritted teeth. She was probably mad at me for being gone for so long. Could she not see the bruises on me? Did she just not care? I didn't know. My mom and the other lady talked and laughed back and forth. It was a few hours until finally the two shook hands and the lady took me by the hand.

She didn't live to far away. I was still going to go to the same school. I was only happy about that. I was still farther away from everything I had grown comfortable with. I took my bags inside. The lady, which I guess was my new mom, smiled at me and took me by my hand again. "Let me show you to your room!" I grabbed my bag and we started on our way up the stairs. It was a pretty big house but it was empty and boring. She opened the door to a cold, empty room. I felt a chill go down my scalp onto my spine. All that was in the room was a twin sized bed with a thin blanket over it and a dresser with multiple drawers in it. She looked at me and smiled again. "Make yourself at home, your clothes can go in the dresser." And with that, she turned on her heels and walked down stairs.

I started putting my clothes away when I got a phone call, it was Y/N. I answered my phone. "Hello?" I asked. "Sub, hey, it's Y/N. I just wanted to apolagize about earlier today. I would have said I love you but I stuttered and wondered if it was a good idea. If you don't mind me saying, I do love you Sub. I love you and I wish I could be with you." There was a moment of silence. Was I dreaming?! This can't possibly be real! The prettiest, most generous girl in school loves me?! No! Sub, you need to talk! You can do this! Just form the words. You know how so just do it. Ok, here it goes. "I-I l-l-love you t-too." Wait. I actually talked! I do love her! I want to be with her until the world ends! I can't think of anything but Y/N! "Sub, you talked! You talked!" "Yes!" I said with acomplishment. "I-I want to b-be w-with you! P-please!" "Yes Sub! Yes! I love you!" I couldn't believe what I was hearing! This was my dream come true! Now we just have to figure out where to meat tonight, hmm.
