"Your house is perfect," I said to Jared. We were planning our study date during our only class together and after finally letting go of my contrite feelings towards Lawrence, I was finally enjoying normal things and normal people.
Like Jared. And conversations. And study dates.
All the simple things I'd forgotten about.
Lawrence didn't remember me and that was okay. Maybe he did remember me and simply didn't want to talk to me, and that was okay too. He wasn't sociable and that was okay. Everything was just fine. I'd still be friendly, I'd still be kind, I'd still be his friend if he wanted to. If he didn't want to that was okay, too. I was feeling unapologetically happy.
"Great," Jared beamed, his white smile bright and beautiful. "I'll see you at seven."
"Seven it is." I smiled because I was happy.
