Kennedy's POV
I felt his warm lips press against mine.
His kisses were needy and hungry, as if he wanted to make sure he kissed me enough incase I left again.
Even though my mind was telling me that I shouldn't be doing this right now, my heart showed it it's middle fingers, flipping my mind off and not giving any fucks.
Ryder bit down softly on my bottom lip and I parted my lips, letting his tongue slip through. My arms wrapped around his neck and my hands went into his hair, my fingers getting tangled in his locks.
We broke apart and breathed heavily from the lack of air.
"You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that," Ryder said. His voice was deep and husky.
After the moment was gone, I came back to reality.
I sighed and unwrapped my arms from around Ryder. He gave me a puzzled look, almost looking a little hurt.
"Ryder...." I spoke, trying to find the right words. "We can't right now."
"Why not?" he replied.
"Because there's this weird space between us," I explained and motioned at him and me.
"I can make the space go away," he joked and smirked, stepping closer to me and pulling me tightly against his body.
I laughed softly but backed away. "You know what I mean," I spoke in a soft but serious voice.
Ryder hung his head and kicked the ground with his shoe. "Yeah. I know," he sighed. "How do we fix it?"
I just stood there and watched him, as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jeans and waited for my answer.
It was horrible to see him like this, knowing that I was the cause of it.
But there was an awkward silence around us that's never been there before. Even when we used fight or talk about an awkward topic. And the worst part was that I had no idea how to fix it.
"I don't know," I whispered.
Ryder looked up at me, a distant look in his eyes. He didn't look sad or angry. He just had a blank look on his face.
"You know," he spoke, getting a determined look on his face. "I should not be the one feeling guilty here." His piercing eyes looked into mine. His was mouth was in a grim line.
I scoffed. "Excuse me?"
"It's true. You were the one that kissed someone else. Not me."
My jaw dropped to the ground in disbelief. "How dare you!" I exclaimed. "I did not kiss him! He kissed me! And if you knew me at all you know that I would never do that to you!"
"Then how come he was your main focus these past few days?!" Ryder argued back. "How come you always went to him when he was acting different? What about me?! Or did you completely forget that I'm the one you're in a relationship with?"
I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out.
He was right. I had been paying more attention to Luke than to him. And I felt awful about it.
"Yeah, that's what I thought," Ryder said in a quiet voice and ran a hand down his face.
I just stood there and watched him, tears beginning to prick my eyes. I couldn't stay here any longer.
I turned around to walk away when I heard him speak again.
"Sure. Run right to him," he said in a low tone that wasn't mean for me to be heard.
