What? The edge of my vision grew black.

Law and Protection Sector? My feet marched off stage and towards an eager, barely quiet group.

I am suited to this Sector?

I was pulled out of my thoughts by two hands on my shoulders.

"Welcome."

He was a man with a scruffy beard and shaven head. His skin looked worn by the sun with lines that peeked through. I gave him a wobbly smile and he released his hold on me. I took my opportunity to slink over to the wall. Through the throng of people, my eyes scanned for my parents. They were bent over to each other, whispering. I could not see Mom's face but Dad's was visible. His forehead was furrowed and his dark eyes were open wide.

"I'd like to wish everyone who received their result today the best of luck. And thank you for joining us tonight, have a good evening."

The groups that lined the walls had all grown to be full and are beginning to exit the room. I stood up straight and joined into the huddle of buzzing characters. The man with the beard was directing people into a somewhat orderly line. They hurried and filed behind each other in small groups. Everyone seemed to be talking to one another like they have known each other their whole lives. I don't doubt they have. I was swept into a group of people passing by. My stomach felt light with nerves as I was jostled between these people. How am I going to fit in with these people? Little pricks of shock hit my arms and torso due to jutting-out elbows.

A warm sensation covered my wrist and pulled me out to the air. I landed unsteadily on my feet and looked up to my saviour.

"Looked like you needed a little help."

My eyes were met with a slightly too big nose and a wide smile. I released a light laugh before saying, "Thanks."

"Welcome to our Sector," Finn chuckled. "I'll be honest, I did not expect to see you again."

"Neither did I," I said, thinking back to my previous thoughts.

He turned to the small cluster around him while sliding his arm onto my shoulder. "This is Sine."

The group mumbled a greeting as they looked me over with curiosity. One of the boys raised his eyebrows at me and asked, "Where are you from?"

"Science," I replied. I felt Finn jolt as he started to pull his arm away.

"Sorry, I forgot yous don't do touchy-stuff." I could feel his awkwardness and felt the need try and diminish it.

"Oh it's okay, I need to get used to the Sector," I said calmly.

The group cooed and laughed at me. I should have thought that one through. My face warmed and Finn quickly put his arm down by his side.

"Really guys?" he joked and rubbed the back of his neck.

The line jumped to life and started to go outside. The crisp evening air hit me as we exited the building. I don't know if it was due to the excitement of those around me, but the coldness felt exhilarating. Everyone around me quickly began running, weaving in and out between people while the air was filled with hooting and hollering.
