My eyes opened to be greeted with darkness. I looked around me but I couldn't see any farther than a few steps ahead. Then, a sudden loud banging noise rang beside my ears. I stumbled over my own feet before my attention was distracted to a new spotlight to the right of me. Sam.
"Watch out!" He yelled, his voice so close like it was inside my head.
Another bang. I jumped to the left. Emily.
"Careful!" She screamed, bent over.
Bang. My head snapped to face in front of me. Finn.
His hand was stuck out towards me. "Sine!"
And then they all started to yell at once, shrieking commands. All in unison, they stopped to point upwards and shout together, "The file! Get the file!"
Everything went into slow motion. Sheets of paper began to fall from above me. I have to move quick. My hands clawed upwards and tried to snatch them out of the air. I tried to step forward but I had to shuffle back. The edge.
Time was slowly speeding up and my attention was drawn back to my friends. Hands were reaching out from the pitch-black darkness. The hands wrapped around their faces. They dropped to the ground and kicked at the floor before disappearing. A cold feeling fell over me, distracting me from the fluttering papers.

"Don't worry, I'm here for you." This voice sounded miles away and hazy.
I felt a light tap on my chin as the face drew back, letting the light burn my eyes once more.
I peeled my eyes opened, wincing at the sudden brightness. My arm instantly raised to shield my face.
In front of me stood the guard from last night. His face looked tired and irritated. Letting out a sigh, he said, "Up. You're both free to go."
Finn stirred beside and lifted his hands to rub his eyes. But I kept my eyes on the guard as he raised a hand and got hold of my elbow. He pulled me up to stand, with Finn following in suit.
As we were being escorted out of the building, feelings of bewilderment hit me. How can we leave so early? We were just taken in last night. I don't have extensive knowledge on cell-stay-length, but I assumed it would be longer.
"Why are we being released?" I asked, the curiosity niggling away at me.
"Feel free to stay," he responded in a monotone voice.
With a roll of his eyes, he continued, "We can only hold people for a certain length of time without evidence."
No evidence? But-
