My eyes darted rapidly between each corridor. Each look the same. And I couldn't remember which way is the right way.
"What way?" Emily asked. "We could try all of them?"
As she spoke, an alarm sounded in the near distance.
Sam shook his head. "We don't have time for that. We need to split up."
The thought of that made my legs tremble. But I was smart enough to know he was right.
In silence, we bundled together in another group hug. Every shiver each of our bodies was felt by all of us.
"Good luck," Emily mumbled, "Be safe."
As we pulled away, our eyes were still trained on each other.
"I love you all," she added with a sorrowful smile.
My entire body from head to toe warmed. No fear anymore. "I love yous too."
Sam and Finn repeated the same. There was no hesitation in anyone's voices.
My vision blurred again. No. Be strong. I nodded one last time before I turned and ran down one corridor. Three sets of footsteps scurried away. I tightened my jaw and readjusted my gun in my hand. Be brave Sine. I know you have it in you. I kept an eye out for anything significant for my destination. It was just bare wall after bare wall. Until I saw a divot in the wall. I hurried my pace to get a better view.
Through the window, there was lab, identical to Science's. The resemblance was uncanny. I didn't realise how closely the two worked together. Then again, it wasn't open knowledge. That could only mean one thing. I'm getting closer. I grinned as I picked up my fast run again. My palms tingled with exhilaration. Maybe I actually can do this. I haven't run into any problems yet.
Then it hit me. I haven't seen any guards up here. I attempted to come up with a logical explanation for the lack of security but my mind went blank. I became so focused thinking about the reason behind that I ended up back at another crossroad. Oh no. I pivoted on the spot. I glanced down each option in hopes of their being something different. There wasn't.
Except for the sound of more footsteps. A familiar blond head appeared around a corner. My stomach dropped.
"Hudson?" I called hesitantly. His shoes clicked along on the ground as he came closer. His wide eyes were solely trained on me.
"Sine." He sighed before frowning. "I told you to stop this."
He turned his head slightly to look behind him. From the darkness, there emerged one more cluster of guards.
I took a step back and lifted my gun. None of them did the same. Instead, one just gestured to the others. Within in a few sweeping steps, I was surrounded. My eyes flared open as a dry gulp dragged itself through my throat.
"Hudson," I called again and moved to look past the guards at him.
My arms were pulled behind me, sending a ripple of pain through my shoulders. I tried to bring my arms back to me but any movement just brought more pain. A squeal burst out of me.
