14) later?

Walking down the street I notice him following me. Tall, glasses and cap to cover his face. Good, I don't want anyone to recognize or notice him.
Sitting down on a chair in some local run down cafe I wait for him to sit with me. I watch as he comes closer I can't help but watch the way he carries himself. You could just see the guilt drip off him. We need to work on that for future preferences, that's if there is a future of course. Just as I was about to greet him he pulls me into a long meaningful kiss and I can't help but smile.
"I missed you too" I say pulling away looking into his tearful blue eyes
"Hey don't do that I'm fine and we're fine k" he looks at me sorrow consuming him
"I'm sorry for what I said earlier, you know I didn't mean a word of it- I just... I saw your face and I thought I hurt you and-" I place my finger over his lips calming him
"Hey don't. Don't do that to yourself Steve, I'm glad you said it, made it more real and probably sold the deal as well, let's just hope they're buying." He nods wiping his eyes and pulling me into a kiss again
"We need to discuss work and be all.... professional you know" he says with a chuckle and I can't help but laugh with him too. Laughing used to be such a foreign concept with me but ever since the avengers and Steve it's just become normal. Well not lately I mean but that's due to other circumstances, being hunted and all.
"Yeah okay big guy, anyway did you manage to get the note I gave you to fury?"
"Yeah we're going to discuss it with coulson and his team outside the compound in bout an hour so we need to leave" my heart sinks as he says this. I want nothing more than to go with him and see coulson again but with red room out there it's too risky I can't put them all in danger yet again because of my past ghosts.
I look at him and don't say a word.
"Nat..?"
"You know I can't, I only just managed to lose Ivan's pathetic attempt of an incognito tail, which means they're gonna find me soon and I can not and will not lead them to the only people who are aware and can stop their plans." He looks at me angry but saddened. Unfortunately that's a look I wish I didn't know all to well on Steve but it seems I can never stop disappointing him.
"You know I'm right. Look I'll be fine okay just make sure you explain what's going on to them and how they've probably bugged the base so to be careful as to what they say and to not be afraid to put on a little show like we did" he frowns as he recalls the memory
"Nat just promise me you won't do anything stupid when I'm gone because I just, I just can't lose you again" I look into his eyes and pull his lips to mine. We stay there for what seems forever holding and comforting each other in our embrace wishing it would never end
"Does this answer it?" I ask smiling and he nods in satisfaction
"Yeah but I can think of another thing that will answer it-"
"Steve! Not in public" l laugh punching his arm
"Later then?" He asks as I walk off and I can't help but grin. Boys.
