The group walked to their class, Care of Magical Creatures. Ron and Hermione wouldn't talk. The only sort of communication Autumn and Ron had was through glares; most coming from Autumn.
Once they arrived at class, Autumn noticed all too familiar colors: green and silver. That could only mean that the Slytherins had class with them.
"That's it. Come on, now. Come closer. Less talking, if you don't mind. I got a real treat for you today. A great lesson. So follow me. Right, you lot. Less chattering. Form a group over there. And open your books to page forty-nine."
"Exactly, how do we do that?" Malfoy asked in an arrogant voice.
"You stroke the spine, of course," Hagrid said. "Goodness me."
Autumn pulled her book out of her bag. The book began snapping at her, growling every second -- up until she pet the spine of the book.
Neville didn't have the same luck as the other kids did: his book attacked him. Papers flew everywhere.
"I think they're funny," Hermione said to the other three.
"Oh, yeah. Terribly funny. Witty. God, this place has gone to the dogs. Wait until Father hears Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes."
"Shut it, Malfoy," Autumn said, flipping through some of the pages in the text book.
"Ooh, look. Grey won't even look at me when she speaks -- are you afraid, Grey?"
"Of you? Of course not. I'm just afraid my eyes will burn off if I lay eyes on you for one second." Autumn said nonchalantly, not taking her eyes off of the book in front of her.
Ron laughed.
Autumn kept looking through the book. No familiar creatures in the book other than the ones she had already come in contact to.
"Dementor! Dementor!" Malfoy sounded almost scared.
Autumn pulled her wand out as quick as she could then pointed it where Malfoy was staring Turns out Harry did the same.
"Ooooh!" A team of Slytherins had mocked how the Dementors looked by covering their faces with their cloaks -- to which Autumn was thankful for; she wouldn't have to see their wretched faces.
Hermione and Ron pulled Harry and Autumn away from Draco and his group of Slytherins.
Autumn closed her book and let Ron take Autumn out of the scene. Immediately, Autumn noticed Neville; his robes were completely ruined.
"You're supposed to stroke it," Ron said.
"Yeah," Neville said faintly.
Hagrid coughed to get the students' attention. Autumn, along with everyone else, turned to face their professor.
"Duh duh duh duh!" Hagrid mimicked a trumpet.
Autumn was amazed when she saw a beautiful creature standing before her. It had the back legs and tail of a horse, along with the body -- but the front legs, head and wings seemed to be part eagle. The first thing Autumn noticed were its bright orange eyes. It had shimmering feathers across its whole body, which made it hard to look away.
"Isn't he beautiful? Say hello to Buckbeak," Hagrid said, holding a chain that strung around Buckbeak's neck as a collar.
"Hagrid, exactly what is that?" Ron asked.
"That, Ron, is a hippogriff. First thing yeh wanna know is they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. Yeh do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may be the last thing yeh ever do." Hagrid rubbed his hands together. "Now, who'd like to come and say hello?"
