As I turned over in my bed, I groaned. Restlessly, I turned onto my side then my back. Giving up, I sat up and sighed. I jumped out of bed and went into the bathroom to clean up. When I finished, I went back into my room to stretch a little and wake up my muscles.

When I finished, I went out onto my balcony that overlooked the town that was far far away from me. In fact, they wouldn't even be able to see my palace even though it was pretty tall and wide.

Although when I looked down, I saw a couple of early workers leaving for work, and a couple of joggers jogging down the streets, but I thought nothing of it.

After a minute, I relaxed into my laid back chair and closed my eyes, trying to remember what happened last night. Nothing came to mind, so I opened my eyes and watched as the sun slowly came up.

At first, it was a tingling sensation that spread over my body. Then, it turned to itching. A second later, I let out a yelp and quickly scrambled back into my room, closing the curtains. I cut on the lights and looked over my skin, trying to figure out if why it had felt like someone had set me on fire.

Confused, I went down to the kitchen to fix my breakfast and think over what had just happened. When I finished cooking, I sat my plate at the table and began eating, still without a conclusion. I was starting to get a headache, so I stopped my straining and finished my meal in peace. When I finished, I put the dishes up, grabbed a drink and took it to the living room where I sat, watching television.

And as soon as I pulled out the bed from within the couch and got comfortable, it came.

A knocking sound came from the entrance door to the living room. My head snapped to it, and there he stood in all back, his red eyes still glowing. He smiled, but his fangs didn't show this time.

No longer intimidated by him for some reason, I spoke. "What happened last night? All I can remember is you in my bed."

With a smirk, he crossed his arms. "Can I take a seat first?"

Hesitantly, I nodded, and in the blink of an eye, he sat beside me. "Well?" I prompted.

Instead of going ahead and answering my question, he asked a question of his own. "Did you go out on the balcony when the sun came up?"

With narrowed eyes, I sat up and stared at him. "What the heck happened last night?" I demanded.

He nodded, translating that to a yes. "Rose," he paused, "Have you ever read or heard of the vampire stories?"

I blinked and it was all I could do to hide my ranging anger. I had to close my eyes. With gritted teeth, I ground out as my voice slowly rose, "You turned me into a ..." I stopped to refrain from screaming and settled on a quiet but deadly voice and finished my sentence, "vampire."

"You asked for it," he said and I didn't have to open my eyes to know he was smiling. I could hear it in his voice.

"No, not really! I-" I snapped, but stopped and my eyes widened in remembrance. I knew I shouldn't have made that deal.

"Here," he said, handing me a newspaper. The date dated back to yesterday. I read the head caption. It said: Building and Business Goes Up in Flames! It went on to say how my old job got hit by a lightning in broad daylight when there was not one cloud in the sky. It also said that the only person who didn't get hurt in the fire was the boss and he was found with third degree burns.

I stopped reading and my mouth dropped open. I didn't want anything to do with the Devil nor this guy anymore.

"Look," I said. "I'm a vampire, he's gone, so we're done. You can go now, and never come back." I pulled him up off the bed and pushed him towards the door, but he didn't budge.

"Not exactly," he said. "We're life long partners."

I slumped to the floor and covered my face. "Great!" I groaned. "I'm a vampire, I'm stuck with a vampire, I can't go out in the sun, and unfortunately, I long for blood. My life couldn't get any worse."

He chuckled and sat down beside me. "Actually it could a million times worse, but I'll humor you. And so I'll tell you something that will make your life a tad bit better and worse anyway. You can't talk or see you folks anymore. You can go in the sun but only with me. And blood won't be a problem."

I sat quietly for a minute to digest everything. "I know hate is a strong word but it is very fitting right now." I uncovered my face and looked at him. "I guess since I'm stuck here you should tell me your name because the name I'm thinking of starts with an a and ends with hole."

"I'm Jesse," he smiled. "And here." He handed me a ancient looking crystal ring. "This will allow you to go out into the sun. But only if I'm with you." He reached into his black, leather coat and brung out a bottle with some kind of glowing red substance in it. "This is blood. Every century, you take a spoonful of this and drink it. It'll keep you from going thirsty everyday and it lasts longer."

I slipped the ring onto my middle finger and took the bottle. "Well, this takes care of most of my problems, but what'll keep my mom from coming here?" I asked quietly.

"Easy and done," he said. "I sent an email to her a few days ago saying you went to a private island for a long break and you don't want anyone here."

Surprisingly, I found myself laughing. "You have everything figured out huh?"

Jesse grinned.

I gasped and took his head in my hands, bringing his face closer. "Your eyes. They're glowing blue!"

He laughed and they turned a sparkling emerald green. "It's alright, Roza. That happens to vampires naturally." He looked into my eyes. "Yours are glowing a beautiful gold." he said softly.

I smiled, relaxing. I mentally waved the white flag. I give up.

"And now they're violet." He whispered, bring his lips to mine.

I broke the kiss. "So what now?" I whispered after a minute, still dazed.

"Now, you take a dose of that. Then, we do what we want and go where we want." Jesse answered.

"Really?" I asked. He nodded. "Okay," I grinned. "Wait here. I'll be back in a flash." With that said, I took off through the door into the kitchen, took a dose of the blood with the spoon, and sped back to the living room before the door could even close back. I sat in his lap.

"I think I'm glad to have you as a partner." Jesse smiled. "Now is when you tell me where you want to go."

Laughing, I stood. "Now, I tell you we're going to travel the world, the first stop being Paris."

Jesse arched a eyebrow. "And?"

"London," I said waiting to see if he would catch on.

He was about to go on, but paused. "What's here that you haven't seen?"

Smiling, I asked him a question. "Did you descend from a family of vampires or were you turned?"

Jesse frowned, clearly confused on what I was getting at. "The first one."

"Great!" I grinned, turning to go upstairs to my room. "So when do I meet them?"

"What?!" he asked, caught off guard. I flashed him a seductive smile over my shoulder before zooming to my bedroom.
