"Roza, why would you want to visit my family?" Jesse asked.
Feeling his eyes on me, I went over to the closet, looking for something beautiful to wear. "You're right, " I said. "I think we should go ahead and meet them first before we're off. "
"Rose, " he groaned. He paused before changing the subject. "Question then?" he asked.
I nodded.
"Okay. You've been acting awfully calm about me turning you now. Any sane person would still be screaming their head off at me and trying to escape. But here you are , the calmest person I've seen turned. Why? " he asked, studying me.
I tipped my head to the side a little , contemplating whether or not I wanted to tell him. "I thought you knew me, " I said after a minute.
He scratched the back of his head with a shy smile. "I think I might've missed a few details. "
I grinned and crossed over to him , sitting on the bed. I got back serious, thinking of why I was the way I am. "After my dad left my mom and I, I made up my mind to become an independent person that could handle herself and whatever was thrown at her, and would work on my own. When I finished college, left to live a regular life. I actually did better than I thought I would. I could a top job in one of the best companies, my own apartment, my own car. Experiencing life on my own was very helpful in helping me become me.
"Now when bad things happen, I just take it in and deal with it. Because I know I can do nothing about it when it's done. Like now. I can't see my family anymore, but I do have everlasting life now. I always look at the brighter side of things when all seems bad." I stood. "That answer your question?"
Jesse silently nodded, thinking. "You answered a lot of my questions actually." He stood and went out onto the balcony into the sun.
I frowned. "How come you can go out into the sun alone?" I asked. from inside my room. I watched as he smiled and came to the door.
"I can because I was born a vampire. And if you take my hand, you can too," Jesse said with a smile.
Taking his hand, I walked out onto the balcony... and everything looked even more beautiful and clearer than it had before I became a vampire. Every being, every building, just everything was beautiful in the sun.
I gasped when I glanced over at Jesse. He gazed at me, his eyes sparkling ocean blue... along with the rest of his body. "Jess, your-" I just shook my head, entranced by his beauty.
Jesse gazed at me. "I can say the same for you, Roza" he said, tipping my face up to his. He kissed me.
I broke it, dazed. When I got my scrambled thoughts back together, I looked back over the balcony. "You can't keep doing that you know," I murmured.
Jesse shrugged. "I know, but I can't help it. Besides, you're mine now." He leaned a little over the balcony and stared into the deep woods. He cocked his head as if listening for something.
"What is it?" I asked.
"My family," he answered, distracted. "They know about you now and want to meet you." Jesse frowned and closed his eyes. A minute later, he opened them and nodded.
"What is it now?" I asked again.
"They were on their way..." He looked at me.
"What?" I said flatly, trying not to get hysterical.
