Merlin P.O.V:
"I had already been planning to do that, so we thought, how about making you Court Warlock?" I gasped, obviously. Arthur ignored this and continued speaking. "But, I feel that even that does not cover the debt which Camelot owes to you. So, I would like to make you my heir."
I stepped back, out of surprise. I ended up stepping back too far and falling over the end of my bed and flopping onto it. Arthur sniggered and walked into my chamber, towards my bed. I sat up, quickly - or tried to.
As Arthur approached me, he kicked the door shut. I managed to almost sit upright and saw Gaius' face as the door shut. I was almost completely upright when Arthur put a hand on my chest and pushed me back down onto the bed, leaving his hand on my chest. He was leaning on my bed, with his other hand. I also saw what was in his hand.
There was a Prince's crown in his hand... His Prince's crown. I'd had to clean it enough that I knew the design off by heart.
I was breathless from Arthur pushing me back onto the bed after I'd tried to sit up. "Arthur, is that...?" I started to whisper. I didn't get a chance to finish my sentence.
"What do you say, Merlin Ambrosius?" he asked. "Are you willing to become the future king of Camelot?"

(Just after Arthur returned to his chambers)
Lancelot P.O.V:
I was walking through the corridors of the castle with no real destination. I happened to end up near to Arthur's chambers. The door was ajar and I could hear Arthur having a conversation with himself. So, I decided to knock and see what he was talking about.
"Come in," Arthur called, once he heard my knocking. I entered his chambers to find him pacing, still wearing his chainmail.
"Are you going to wear that chainmail all night?" I asked. He hadn't seemed to have noticed that he was wearing it. He shrugged himself out of the chainmail as I asked what he was talking about.
"Merlin has magic," he started.
I cut him off. "I know. But none of the rest of the Knights know."
"He just used his magic to save my life on the battlefield..."
"Arthur, he's used his magic to save your behind many more times than just today. Possibly even more times than I know of."
"Lancelot, stop interrupting." I murmured sorry and Arthur glared at me. "I want to repay him, but I don't know how to."
"Maybe you could make magic lawful."
"I was already going to do that for something else."
"You could..." I started. Arthur cut me off.
"I know! I can make him Court Warlock!"
"Yes! I was about to say that!"
"Thank you for your help, Lancelot. You are dismissed." I nodded and left the chambers.

(From when Lancelot left)
Arthur P.O.V:
As the knight left the room, something else that I could do for Merlin occurred to me. I could crown him as my heir.
Suddenly decided, I hurried to change into fresh clothing and raced through the corridors of the castle to find where my Prince's crown was being kept. I was going to do this properly.
I ended up searching for hours to try to find that particular crown, but I didn't give up. And, eventually, I found it.
Then, I made my way to the Court Physician's chambers, where both Gaius and Merlin were lodged.

(At the same time as the Merlin P.O.V)
Arthur P.O.V:
I had one hand on Merlin's chest and the other on his bed. My hand on his bed was holding the crown.
"Arthur, is that..." Merlin started. I smiled and cut him off.
"What do you say, Merlin Ambrosius?" I asked. "Are you willing to become the future king of Camelot?"
Merlin blushed and nodded, obviously surprised by what I was asking. I lunged forwards and gently rested the crown on his head.
"There. Now you look like a real prince." I beamed down to him, then realised that I was lying practically on top of him. It was my turn to blush. I quickly got up off him and his bed, suddenly really embarrassed. Why was I embarrassed? I was always doing stupid things around Merlin. "I umm. I just wanted to give you that in advance of the ceremony, so you wouldn't be surprised then." I backed towards the door. "Sorry for the intrusion."
