What a Beautiful Wedding!

The following week was spent largely the same as the previous for the royal couple, with the only main difference being the frequent announcements to the city - and across the kingdom - that a royal wedding was to take place in the city within a few weeks. The first person Merlin wrote to, to tell, was - naturally - his mother. With the letter for his mother, he also sent a letter for Will, asking him to please join the celebration, and that he would also be able to hear more stories of Camelot mayhem.
Within another three days of the letter being sent, the official invitations were sent out. When Merlin had expressed a desire for his childhood friend to attend the wedding, Arthur insisted that he be invited, and have a priority seat set for him close to Merlin's. Arthur knew exactly how much Will's attendance would mean to Merlin, and he didn't want to let Merlin down.
Invitations were also sent to the rulers of neighbouring kingdoms, as well as the leaders of local druidic clans. By three days before the set date, all invitations had been replied to with a confirmation of attendance. Even Will's.
As arrangements were made for the ceremony and celebration itself, Gaius was asked - by Merlin - to guide him to Arthur for the ceremony, as would be required of a father, had the marriage been to a woman. Gaius may or may not have broken down into tears of joy at being Merlin's choice for such a request.
The wedding date, set three short weeks after the proposal, was looming and while many brides felt twinges of doubt that close to the day, Merlin had never felt surer of anything in his entire life. If anything, he found himself wishing that the day was sooner than it was.

Merlin P.O.V:
The date set for the wedding finally arrived after many days of impatient kingdom-ruling on mine and Arthur's parts. My mother had arrived, with Will as an escort of sorts, two days prior, and some seamstresses had made them both attire suitable for guests of a royal wedding. They had also made elegantly embroidered matching suits for myself and Arthur to wear, to make a welcome change from using Armour as the height of formal-wear, which was incredibly uncomfortable.
Other guests had also been arriving in the three days leading up to the wedding date. Thankfully, they had all begun to arrive after the carpenter had finished my throne, and had it installed beside Arthur's. It was here that Arthur and myself sat as we greeted the guests as they arrived in the city.
I had insisted upon giving the citizens the day free from work, to celebrate the date, meaning that, on the morning of the chosen date, the cobbled streets of Camelot were packed with people revelling, before the celebrations had even begun.

The ceremony commenced at midday for our wedding, ensuring any last-minute arrivals for the wedding had time to get to the city. The ceremony was not similar to those of working people, as marrying into the royal family brought responsibilities, so the ceremony consisted mainly of vows to the throne and the kingdom, being crowned, then us finally being able to make vows to each other.
Arthur, for the entire time that I was taking my vows to the crown and the kingdom, was stood shaking slightly, and jittering, almost like he was nervous that something would go wrong. Thankfully, nothing went wrong, and I didn't even mess up reciting my vows.
At the end of my initial vows, I was to bow my head slightly, and Geoffrey was to place the crown on my head. All of this went smoothly, as Geoffrey of Monmouth could be relied upon for these situations, for the continued smooth running of Camelot. Assisted by Arthur, which was also meant to happen, I then stood opposite Arthur, with Geoffrey assisting us to recite our vows to each other, as we had given him a copy of our vows that we had written. Our vows included the likes of always loving each other, which neither of us found to be a difficult concept to grasp; trying to protect each other, should an enemy of Camelot attack, which we had already been doing for years anyway; and listening to each others' thoughts on the running of the kingdom, while still compromising to utilise both of our strengths.
The ceremony itself lasted around an hour. Each time one of us said one of our vows, a ribbon would be wound once around our wrists, tying our right hands together, to signify us becoming one - or something like that. "With this ribbon we are united so that, despite it may physically be removed, we still are joined both the bonds of love and destiny, to rule together for as long as we may live." This was our final line, which we said together, to signify our unity. Then, as the ribbon was unwound, to show that we were more than just physically linked from then on, Arthur and I kissed.

There was half-an-hour between the ceremony and the celebration, as Arthur and I had planned something for him and myself. Because my mother could be there on our big day, but his mother couldn't so, between the ceremony and the celebration, we visited the burial site of Ygraine Pendragon, to pay our respects to the previous Queen.
We stayed there silently for a few minutes, just being together without anyone watching our movements. Without anyone having any expectations for what we should be doing. We knelt beside the burial site, hand-in-hand, comforting each other with our presence. Of course there would be jokes - on Gwaine's part - of what we could have been getting up to in the half-an-hour free. But, family and close friends knew the plan for that time, and knew better than to question is about it, which kept the majority of others from questioning it.
Then, when we had paid our respects to Queen Ygraine Pendragon, Arthur and I went to the Great Hall for the celebrations to commence. There was a huge feast, for which we had been perfecting the course list for weeks. There was entertainment from a variety of jesters, as well as singers and bards. There were even some druidic performers, druids using their magic as a form of entertainment. The whole event went without a problem, which made me very happy, and probably pleased Arthur greatly, too.
Then Gaius stood, as my friend and mentor (in lieu of a father), to make a speech.
