Arthur noticed Merlin fall asleep in his arms as he carried him away from Morgana's lair. He didn't mind; he was just glad that Merlin was mainly unharmed. Arthur was horrified that he hadn't been fed. Despite the horrible stories people would hear about Bandits, no one had ever been starved by them.

Arthur P.O.V:
I carried Merlin back to my horse. In my hurry to save him, it hadn't occurred to me to bring him a horse. But, in that moment, I was glad, as I wanted Merlin as close to me as possible, so I couldn't lose him again. I lifted him onto the horse, then climbed up behind him, to hold him on, and rode off. As we left the lair in the distance, I heard Morgana crying out in rage that Merlin was gone.
Worryingly, Merlin slept for the entire three days it took for us to reach Camelot. Thankfully, he awoke before we entered Camelot's gates. He seemed less tired but still had very little energy. I had to lift him from the horse after disembarking, as he hadn't the strength to do so for himself. As soon as I had him off the horse, I carried him to Gaius's Chambers.
Gaius told me that he was just exhausted from having no food for a while. He told me that if Merlin were an ordinary man, he'd have already died of hunger. As it was, Merlin's body, in extremely dire situations, can be sustained by even just the air itself.
Merlin interrupted Gaius at this point, as he had additional information. "The druids call me Emrys because it means Immortal. I cannot die, unless stabbed by Excalibur, or unless I am granted that wish by the oldest druid alive at the time of the desire." Then, he continued to slurp the nutritional broth that Gaius had made for him.
Gaius told Merlin to refill his bowl when he finished what he had, then pulled me aside to speak to me privately. "He must rest for at least two weeks. He mustn't complete any of his daily tasks at all, as it would drain the little energy he will regain from the broth. I will also ensure that the cook makes him this exact broth thrice daily. You must ensure that he drains a pot of that size at each meal time. I will come and check his condition every other day. The rest time may be revised depending on how he reacts to the prior instructions. You may want to have someone come and keep him company while he's resting."
I nodded along to Gaius's requests and recommendations. "I'll make sure he rests properly, and see that he isn't lonely." I didn't tell Gaius what my plan was, just that he wouldn't be alone.
