Monday- the bane of many students' existence, all except Ella. This particular morning was especially thrilling for her. It'll be the first time she'll see Jace and Vince after their trip.
She looked forward to hanging out with them. They chatted up a hurricane the entire weekend and made a pact to always be together.
Mr Wolfe not text her all weekend, to which she was exceedingly grateful. Even if she was not, he was a businessman who did not always have the time to send her, someone whom he had just met, messages.
She got up and delicately made her way to the bathroom, being extra cautious in not waking up Lee and Belle, the two orphans she shared a hotel room with. Meadow Ridge Hotel was a stunning, modestly-sized hotel.
Mr Wolfe had booked an entire floor to accommodate all the orphans and staff. She often pondered about his wealth, being able to refurbish an entire orphanage and make it even bigger than before must cost a diminutive fortune.
After showering and brushing her teeth and hair, she walked back into the room comically giggling at Lee and Belle's early morning scowls.
Buzz!
Ella picked up her phone in enthusiasm, she had hoped it was a text from Jace or Vince but she was mistaken. It was Mr Wolfe.
Morning Ella, I hope you are enjoying Meadow Ridge Hotel. The renovations to the orphanage will take about two weeks so you're allowed to get a bit comfortable there.
His message seemed extraneous. He was telling her things she already knew the answers to. If running a company gives you this many free time, then sign me up for the next post, Ella thought.
Morning Mr Wolfe. Yes, I am thoroughly enjoying it. I've spent a lot of time reading in the lush garden.
She hit send. Not long after, her phone buzzed again. Thus vaguely confirming her theory of the amount of time he has on his hands.
A garden enthusiast, am I safe to presume that?
She assumed his message has a tinge of humour to it, then again, it was Mr Wolfe. Wednesday Addams had a more humouristic soul than he did.
I love how tranquil it is. Now, if you will excuse me, sir, I really need to get to school. I have an unbelievably long walk now that I'm temporarily based at this hotel. Have a pleasant day further.
She confirmed the message and set her phone in the pocket of her blazer. She walked out of the room and grabbed an apple that was set in a bowl in the hallway. There was no time for breakfast.
She walked to the elevator, only to have her phone buzz again.
Don't be alarmed by what's going to happen to you now. Enjoy school, Ella.
She was confused and a bit frightened by Mr Wolfe's message.
What does that mean, sir?
She hastily clicked send and slowly walked out of the elevator doors. She did not want to go outside until he replied, but he did not. Time was running out and she needed to be on her way. She walked out of the hotel doors only to be stopped by a man in a suit.
