Rubbing your eyes as you brushed your teeth only confirmed the fact that you were still tired. Despite this you really wanted to get out of the house even if it were just for a simple walk around the city to get to know it better.
The one thing that you weren't expecting had to be the banging on your front door. Sticking your head out into the hallway staring down toward the front door in the living room. There was a silence in the apartment and for a couple of minutes you actually thought that you had been hearing things.
Spitting into the sink and washing out your mouth with water is when another round of banging on the front door echoed into the back of the apartment.
Narrowing your eyes toward the door you walked down the hall and out into the living room before cracking the door open. You blinked a couple of times to make sure that you weren't crazy to be seeing a certain redhead on the other side of the door.
"Yo [Name], hope I didn't wake you up."
You seriously hoped that you weren't blushing. Never did you expect to see Reno so soon after that night incident. Opening the door a little bit more to realize that it just wasn't Reno standing in the hallway.
Behind Reno was another man, bigger and definitely did not give off the same friendly, flirty atmosphere as Reno did.
"H-Hey Reno," It was really hard not to stutter, especially with the other guy staring. Or at least you thought he was staring, you couldn't see his eyes through the black sunglasses. "... I just wasn't expecting anyone to be coming by. I was actually on my way out."
A smile was about to pop onto Reno's face alas his partner beat him to the punch. "Good, you're coming with us."
There was a seven second awkward pause between the three of you. You couldn't even look at Reno, thus you failed to see a slight annoyed and maybe an embarrassed look? Instead you stared at Reno's partner and slowly nodded your head. "Um, sure, let me grab my stuff."
Outside you couldn't help but feel yourself becoming attached to Reno's side while his partner took the lead. To where... you figured it was a better question not to ask. Reno put his left hand into his pockets while his right hand went to loosen up the black tie around his neck.
Clearing his throat he gave you a sweet smile. "Sorry about Rude, doll."
"N-No he wasn't Rude."
The redhead actually had to stop walking the split second that you said that while 'Rude' paused to look back at the two of you, neither of you noticing the slight twitching smile.
Meanwhile Reno shook his head to the point his ponytail came flying over his shoulder. "No doll, his name is Rude."
You became silent while emotions of embarrassment and still being unsure on whether or not either of them were trying to joke. Eventually you just nodded your head and waited for Reno to recover from his small laughing issue.
However.. "I'm going back. I'm leaving this to you." For the first time Rude felt that he could actually trust Reno with this assignment.
Meaning that Rude left you and Reno standing there on the sidewalk underneath a surprisingly small magnolia tree. Reno's playfulness melted away into something else, something that you were rather surprised to see - seriousness.
Glancing at the man with your [colour] eyes reflecting back on his goggles, you could see the confliction in his blue-green eyes. "Is something wrong Reno?"
The redhead was quiet for a time, people walking by with some giving odds looks and other people just going on their way. "There's some things that don't make much sense is all. You having gone missing only to pop up with no memories. There are a lot of Turks at the station that want this case [Name]. Breaking something like this and it shows there's something bigger could advance careers."
You did find it strange that no one came to talk to you about the disappearing for a couple of years. At the same time you were grateful that no one seemed to want to openly talk about it.
"The group thinks that your disappearance was associated to The Darkness, that night only confirmed it hence why Rude and I have been fighting to keep it." There was sincerity in his eyes and a painful look on his face. You chalked it all up to the fact that Lea is still missing... and you were the only one to be returned.
Reaching out almost at random, you felt your fingers curl around his free hand. "If I remember anything important, I promise I'll tell you."
Reno's smile was the important thing, the slight squeeze of the hand only confirmed whatever that feeling was in your stomach.
"Thanks doll. How about we get some lunch?"
