There are a lot of new things that you've had to get used to since returning to Riverdale. New places, new people, but most of all, you've gotten used to having your best friend back. Jughead Jones was always at your side, every moment that he could be, and you didn't mind one bit.

Jughead and your's closeness didn't go unnoticed by others either, Betty and Veronica had been bugging you about it for weeks.

"There definitely has to be some feelings there" Veronica argues with you.

"Can't a guy and a girl just be friendly without them having to date?" You counter.

"Obviously, but not like this, you guys are different. The lingering stares, the hand holding, the kissing."

"Okay, kissing? You make it sound like we are making out. They are just innocent little cheek kisses" You say, not even believing yourself.

You had been developing feelings for Jughead since you'd gotten back, and you were hoping that they wouldn't be unrequited, but you didn't want to get your hopes up.

"Speak of the devil" Betty mumbles, as Jughead comes up behind you.

He sits beside you at the lunch table, throwing his arm over your shoulder and planting a quick kiss upon your cheek. The girls give you a teasing look.

"Hey, what were you guys talking about?" He asks.

"Just girl stuff" you answer quickly, before the other two could say anything.

"What? Like boys?" He says in a faux girly voice, teasing you.

Before you could answer, Veronica did, "yeah actually, we were trying to find (Y/N) a date."

"Oh..." Jughead says in surprise before recovering, "who are the contestants?"

"We were thinking about setting her up with Reggie, he seems pretty interested in her." Veronica lies smoothly.

"Oh come on V, you've gotta have somebody better than Reggie freaking Mantle, the dude is an asshole. (Y/N) deserves so much better than that." He rants.

"Yeah, I guess your right Jug, we'll just have to keep looking" Betty agrees, keeping up the charade.

"Anyway" Jughead continues, turning to look you in the eye, "lunch is almost over, can I walk you to class?"

"Of course Jug, lets go" you say, gathering up your stuff and standing.

He holds out his hand for you, and you take it with yours before looking back at the girls as they give you more teasing gazes. You roll your eyes and continue walking.

When you get far enough away from the girls, so that they can't hear you, Jughead turns to you again.

"Can I ask what you guys were actually talking about? I may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but I'm not a complete idiot. There is no way that Veronica would ever even think to set you up with Reggie" He says as you two continue to walk.

Seeing this as your opportunity to see if he really likes you, you take it.

"No, we weren't actually talking about setting me up with Reggie" you confess, "they were grilling me about our relationship."

"Our relationship? What about it?" He asks.

"They were teasing me about how close we are with all the holding hands and stuff. They were wondering if I have feelings for you." You answer truthfully.

"And do you?" He asks, stopping you two in the hall, turning to face you. His hand rested on your waist.

"If I'm being completely honest with you, yeah I do" you look up at him before rambling on, "  and I'm sorry if that messes everything up because you don't have feelings for me, but I really do..."

You were cut off by lips connecting with yours, which caused you to emit a surprised noise before kissing back. One of his hands sat on your waist, the other on your cheek, holding you to him. You were just two idiots, kissing in the middle of the hallway, but it didn't seemed like he cared, so you didn't let it bother you. Far too soon for your liking, the kiss ended, he pulled away to catch his breath.

He rested his forehead against yours before speaking, "I like you too, dork."

A grin quickly found its way onto your face, his mirroring it.
