Chapter 10 - We all know it's jealousy
We walked through a park and I was shocked to see a girl standing in the park. It was the same girl I had met at the airport, she had asked me if the flight from Tokyo had landed. But this girl standing there wasn't what had shocked me.
The fact that Jonghyun was standing there, next to her, talking to her, no laughing with her was what shocked me. Hyorin stood next to me and spat some words, which I didn't understand, and probably never will.
"Do we have some jelly? I can smell some" Hyorin said. "How can you smell the goddamn jelly?" I ask frustrated. "Are you angry at me or....." she said mischievously while grinning. "Or what?" I asked, turning my gaze away from Jonghyun.
"Or are you jealous?" she asked and I just glared at her. "What are you trying to say?" I asked. "We both know what I want to say," she said and I just rolled my eyes. Why doesn't she get it? I don't have any feelings for Jonghyun. "I'll prove it to you, that I do not have feelings for him," I said and walked towards Jonghyun and that girl.
"Hey," I greeted and both of them turned their attention to me. "Soo Min" Jonghyun said and put his arm around my shoulder. I couldn't help but feel weird. "Oh, isn't that you?" the girl next to him said. "Yes, we met at the airport, right?" I said and she nodded.
"My name is Sawako and you?" she asked and spread her hand for a handshake. "Lee Soo Min" I said and shook her hand. "How did you guys meet?" I asked Jonghyun and turned my head to him. "We met at the neighborhood. She asked me for directions and it seems like she is your neighbor" he said.
Suddenly we all heard some munching coming from the back. We all turned around to see Hyorin eating some cookies. "Don't mind me, carry on" she said and we went back to our conversation again. "Anyway, let's be friends" Sawako said and I agreed. "Should we all grab something to eat?" she said and I thought about it for some seconds. "No, I have to do some work. Why don't you guys go and have a nice time?" I said and smiled while Jonghyun looked at me with a questioning expression.
Hyorin looked at us, amused, and I just waved my hand at them before walking off with Hyorin. "What was that?" Hyorin asked and I showed her a small smile. "Didn't I tell you? I don't like him. Who would let their crush go on a meal with other females?" I asked.
Even though I left them alone, I kind of felt weird inside. "What's with that uneasy look?" Hyorin asked skeptically. "What uneasy look?" I said and shrugged it off. "I don't like him," she said while munching on her "But I would accept him," she said while showing a look of approval. "Accept what?" I asked.
"Even though I hate him, there is one thing I got to admit, which I noticed in my childhood, that this guy never betrays and is one of the most loyal person I have met. So I would accept him, when you know..." She said and made a pause, "Let's say it like that: I would approve him as your man if something ever happens between the two of you"
I slapped her arm and pouted. "Didn't I tell you?" "Yes, I know, nothing is going on between the two of you" she said and rolled her eyes. The next day I saw Sawako in our school. She is a year lower than Jonghyun and I but I quickly grew to be friends with her.
So then Friday came. I hadn't really seen Sawako, I was sure that she was busy adjusting here and Jonghyun somehow avoided me after I left him alone with Sawako. Even while eating lunch, he never said 'hello' to me, make eye contact with me, like we used to do and neither did he smile at me every time we looked at each other.
After having a boring day, a boring weekend started. It was Saturday, the 24th and January was slowly coming to an end. It was morning and I was lying in my cozy bed, wrapped up in my warm blankets and was watching dramas.
Watching dramas, writing, reading and cooking were my favorite hobbies. Since I came to Korea, I started to practice cooking too. Oh, right, I need to get the ingredients for the lasagna I want to make. I walked to the convenience store, which was nearby with my ear buds on full blast. Even though I was being ignored by someone, whose name I don't want to mention, I decided to have a nice day and relax for the weekend.
Well, that was what I thought.
"Soo Min?"
I turned around to see Minho. The convenience store was strangely empty, so he wasn't wearing any kind of disguise. "Minho! What are you doing here?" I asked surprised. "I just wanted to buy some snacks before we drive away," he said and picked up some packets of chips and sweets. "Drive off where?" I asked.
"We are making a one day trip," he said and we both walked to the counter." We will leave tomorrow at 4 a.m. and be there at 8 a.m. We will probably be back by 10 p.m." he said and he paid for his snacks. I paid for my ingredients as well. "Hey, why don't you join us as well?" he asked from out of the nowhere. "Me?!?" I asked in a loud voice.
"Why are you reacting like that? It shouldn't be that much of a surprise," he said. "I-I don't know. Firstly, I don't think that my parents will allow me to go on a trip with 5 men they don't know about. Secondly, I am not sure if everyone wants me to go along" I said, referring to Jonghyun, even though I knew that Minho didn't know that I was meant him.
"Come on. I am sure everyone likes you and you can ask this new girl, what's her name again, Hyorin, right, ask her if she wants to come along. Maybe your parents will allow then."
"Okay, I will think about it. I'll text you my final answer in some hours." I said and wanted to walk away. "Wait. There will be more people than us going. It will be us five, you, Hyorin, Jaejoong Hyung, Siwon Hyung, and Sulli. We will be 10 in total," he said and I nodded.
Wait, didn't Hyorin hate Jaejoong? I don't know if Jaejoong feels the same, but I think I shouldn't tell her about Jaejoong coming along, or else she won't come along.
Let's get ready for a one day trip.
Well, this is where my journey really began. Jealousy, friendship, overnight trips were just the beginning. To mess even more things up, exams, new meetings and old loves had to come. But between all of that, am I able to find happiness?
