Chapter 10

A few days later...

Riker POV

I was ignoring Brynn's texts. I was mad about the picture I saw of her and that guy.

I guess I thought by ignoring her, I'd feel better, but it was actually the opposite.

I've cried a few times, but I think maybe I've pulled myself together for good. I hope...

And then the doorbell rang.

Unfortunately for me, I was the only one home tonight. And I was wondering who would be here this late. It was about 10:30 at night. Did one of my siblings forget their key or something?

I trudged downstairs. I opened the door, and someone grabbed me.

It took me a moment to realize it was Brynn. She pulled me over to her car.

"Get in," she said, looking at me.

"Why?"

"Because we need to talk."

I sighed. I knew we needed to talk. So I got in. Brynn got in the driver's seat.

"Why haven't you been answering my texts?" She asked.

"I-"

"I thought you liked me! Isn't that the whole reason you kidnapped me!?"

"Brynn, you're cheating on me."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Stop pretending. I saw the picture."

"The picture of what?"

"You and that guy!"

"Riker, what guy?"

"The guy I saved you from..." I said, feeling tears stinging my eyes.

"What?"

"On facebook..."

I pulled up the picture on my phone, and handed it to Brynn.

"Riker, I'm not cheating on you. His mom found out about everything, and she made him apologize."

"So he decided to have a party while he apologized?"

"Riker, it wasn't a party. It was a family get together. One of his family members brought it up apparently, and right then and there, he called me on speaker. I could hear his mom in the background. And he asked me to come over so he could apologize. So I did."

I sighed. I wasn't sure if I believed her.

"Brynn... I just... I don't want to get hurt. I don't know if I believe you. If he almost... did you know what to you... I don't feel like he'd really apologize. The type of person that would do something that terrible wouldn't apologize."

"Riker, he probably did it so he wouldn't get kicked out of the house. It wasn't a genuine apology, but I don't really care. It was funny to watch him be embarrassed in front of his family."

"Well... I don't know if I believe you!"

"Can I have your phone?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because I thought you might feel that way."

I handed it to her. She put it in her pocket, locked the car doors, and pulled out of my driveway.

I tried opening the door, but it wouldn't unlock.

"Brynn!"

"Put on your seat belt."

I put it on, feeling a bit nervous.

"What are you doing?" I asked, my voice shaking a little.

"I want to know something before I answer that."

"What?"

"Why don't you believe me?"

"I don't know... Because I'm afraid of getting hurt! I was barely over you when you called and wanted to talk! And this time I was so upset when I saw the picture... I just... Brynn, I don't want you to lie to me. This will kill my heart."

"Then believe me."

"But there's no evidence! How can I!? I still barely know you! We've been on one date! There's not really much trust yet!"

"I would trust you if I were in your shoes."

"Well I'm not you! Now tell me what's going on! What are you doing with me!?"

"I'm kidnapping you."
