Chapter 30

Carl's POV
5 Weeks Later

I was making breakfast while Jessa bounced in her high chair when Enid came down the stairs.

She had been extra tired for the past week and I wasn't sure what was going on.

"Morning, babe," I called.

She groaned in response and kissed Jessa's head before sitting next to her.

I handed her some scrambled eggs and sat across from her.

"Ready for the meeting today?" I asked.

She sighed. "Would it be possible for me to sit this one out?" she asked. "I'm not really feeling it today."

"Are you okay?" I asked. "Do you wanna go see Denise?"

She shook her head as she stretched. "I'm fine," she promised. "Just feeling a little under the weather. I'm okay, though, I promise. You go, though. It'll be nice to spend some time with Jessa, anyway."

"You sure?" I asked.

She nodded. "Yeah, I promise."

I sighed before nodding. "Okay, the meeting shouldn't take too long."

She shook her head. "Take as long as you need. If I get any worse, I'll go to Denise."

I nodded. "Okay. I should get going."

I got up and kissed Enid and blew a kiss to Jessa before heading out.

Enid's POV

I sighed and finished my breakfast before heading back up to the bedroom.

Checking my calendar, I realized that I really should've gotten my period by now.

Sitting on my bed, I considered the probability that I was pregnant again.

I hadn't gotten my period in over a month, I was excessively tired, I threw up yesterday, and I was constantly going to the bathroom.

I closed my eyes. I didn't want to tell Carl until I knew for sure. And I had no idea what his reaction was going to be. It couldn't be worse than the first time considering he now had some experience. But it might be worse, considering the first pregnancy put us through hell.

I laid my back on the bed and sighed. I rested my hand on my stomach. Was I really ready to go through another pregnancy?

I walked downstairs and saw Jessa bouncing up and down happily, a big smile on her face.

That's when I knew I was ready. It might be painful, but it'd be worth it.

I ran to the bathroom as I felt my stomach churning, but something was different this time.

I had a smile on my face.
