The beginning

It's already been a month since I found out about my powers and every day I've been going to the same warehouse to practice them. I've also been spending a little more time with Iris, having dinners at her house and going shopping. She also made sure that I knew she would go with me to the hospital so they would help me with my memory. But I always refused to go. I knew that they would find out I was a meta and would try to make all kinds of experiences with me.

Today during my training I was finally able to create an ice arrow just with my hands. This would be really helpful during robberies. During the past month I haven't stole anything because I wanted to control my powers completely before I had to use them against other people. Meanwhile I have just been doing some hacking to find out when museums would be transporting new, priceless jewels or paintings.

As I got inside my apartment I decided to take a shower and change clothes.

I was hoping to go out for some food as I'm not the best cook and I find it quite boring to be cooking for only me. As I was putting on my last boot someone knocked on my door. My first guess was that it was Barry as now he knows where I live and likes to stop by from time to time. As I opened the door my mouth fell open and all these memories form 10 years ago come back. Feelings that I pushed away just came rushing back as soon as I saw the woman that called herself my mother in front of me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked through my gritted teeth.

" Well, can't I see my own daughter?" she asked while pushing me aside and walking right in.

"I haven't been your daughter for 10 years so no, you can't just see me." I told her still with the door open so she could go away. "I want you out now." I told her with the anger I've had for over 10 years.

"I can't do that. I need your help? You see, my kidneys aren't working properly and the doctors day I could die at any moment." She said while sitting on my couch, probably waiting for me to sit next to her, something I would never do, so I just stayed right where I was. "They say it's because of how much I drink." She continued.

"Let me guess, you need me to give you one of my kidneys because they can't find someone compatible." I said already knowing that it would only be because of something like this that she would search for me.

"Exactly, for someone that didn't go to school you're actually smart." She told me with the same tone she always used when I was younger, trying to bring me down. That's all she ever could do.

"No, I won't give you one of my kidneys so you can just leave on your own or I'll call the cops. You probably don't know this but I have some friends that are cops." I told her while picking up my phone ready to call Joe.

"Are you really going to be like this to your own mother? The one that gave birth to you?" She asked me while standing up. I know what she is trying to do. She wants me to give in to my humanity. "If you don't do this I will die." She tried once again.
