Cara.

Waking up to your dog barking for food, it's far from pleasant. But that's my life so what can I say?

My legs flew to the side, and continued their journey to the bathroom. I washed my face and teeth, before applying eyeliner and mascara.

I was never a real fan of make up, but I decided to change things for this brand new year. The term 'new year, new me' literally applies to my situation now.

I squeezed my legs in my black high-waisted skinny jeans, and a white shirt with a black cat on it. I then slid my white high top converse, and walked downstairs.

My mom, who was still in her pjs, was flipping pancakes and humming to some old Beatles song. I quickly recognized it and started to mumble the lyrics under my breath.

"Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday"

My mom jumped and turned to me. "Next time you are here, tell me!"

"I will mom!" I said and started to devour the pancake that was placed right in front of me.

After a few minutes a heard a honk outside and just to my luck I had just finished my plate. I grabbed my book bag and phone, and said goodbye.

While strutting out I heard shouting from across the street. The Griers. I opened the back door to the car and sat down.

"Hi, Francesca." I greeted and then turned to my best friend.

"And hello there sexy beast." I chuckled and did an awkward wave to my best friend, Emily.

About 5'3, long dark brown wavy hair, and tanned skin; she was the perfect best friend. She was the 'brunette' and I was the blonde best friend. I was not smart, but I clearly wasn't a dumb blonde. I had As,Bs, and Cs, so don't call me stupid.

"Did you hear the shouting?" Emily asked while running her hand through her hair. Usual habit.

"Probably, Hayes." I replied as we passed by the house, and saw Hayes and Nash walking out. "Nash was probably mad at Hayes for taking a shirt or something."

"Or maybe he found a condom on Hayes room" She joked, and we burst out laughing.

The best part of being best friends with her and being over your ex, was that I spent the entire summer eating and then exercising while making fun of your Hayes.

"Probably wooed some stupid bimbo."

We laughed again, and then started to jam out any song that came on the radio. The car came to a stop and we got out of the car and walked inside the school.

All eyes were on us; clearly impressed of both of our images. Emily went through the same thing as I did with Hayes. One of Hayes friends, Trevor, cheated on her. Why were seventh graders so stupid?

I was rocking the bad/sassy sweet girl look, while Emily went from punk rock, to a classy and hipster girl in a jean skirt and a daisy crop top.

I twisted my pass code and opened my locker door. I took my Algebra I book out and my Civics book too. Yes, I am taking Algebra in eighth which means I'm smart.

I waved Emily goodbye and started to walk to my new class. Being the total outcast that I planned to be; I took a sit in the last row and last column of the room. Most of the people I already knew from last year are in my class, of course the smart ones.

I sighed in relieve when I didn't see Hayes come in. He was never that smart. I groaned when I saw Beatrice come inside the room. She was the one and only most clingiest girl in the entire grade. Once you talk to her is like BAM! best friends. And of course to my chagrin it happens to be that the only two seats available are next to me.

"Cara!" She exclaimed and sat next to me.

"Bea!" I said in a less excited tone. "I didn't know you were in Algebra I."

"Since when don't I have an Honors Classes?" She laughed and threw her head back.

I rolled my eyes, and saw hell break loose. Hayes entered the class with a big smirk on his face, and then took a seat next to me.

The urge of looking at him was killing me, but I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. I kept my eyes to the front where I saw Mr. Fleis walk in. He started with the whole introduction things and how today we weren't going to do anything.

I felt Hayes eyes checking me out, and I swear I just wanted to rip his eyes out. His eyes are too perfect for you to do that. Shut up.

"How is it going, Cara?" He asked and scooted closer to me.

"Why are you talking to me?" I responded still not looking at him.

"Don't be like that, Car." He whispered in my ear, and bit my earlobe.

"Can you stop it, Grier!" I muttered and shifted uncomfortably.

"What if I don't want to? Dallas." He said.

"Then, I'll have to rip your pretty eyes out." I answered and his hands flew up.

"Sorry. My eyes are flawless, aren't they?" He bragged and smirked.

Trevor appeared and I couldn't be more thankful that he was here. I turned to Bea; to find her with her nose stuck in a book doing Algebra problems. And I thought I was the nerd. As much as I despise Trevor; I am more than grateful that he saved me from Hayes.

The bell rang, and we all ran from the classroom to our next period. Mine was Language Arts, and Emily was in that class with me. I entered the class, and admired all of my new fellow classmates. Emliy sat in the back; I took a sit next to her, and asked.

"How was first period?" I asked, and took one of her grapes.

"Since when is Science good?" Emily answered. "Like literally I love the class. How was yours?"

"You don't want to know."
