life's hard when you're trying to be killed by monsters, but you just gotta make it interesting.

my name is aella cremark, and I'm a demigod at camp half blood. if you aren't a demigod, or anything mythical for that matter, then you probably have no clue what I'm talking about. my father is ares, the god of war, and in my opinion, assholes.

I stood by the training area, twirling my dagger in one hand while watching the other campers. the training area was full of campers, and excitement. tonight was capture the flag, and every camper wanted to get their practice in. as i looked across the grounds I spotted a tall, muscular kid who was beating the living shit out of a Hermes camper. I grinned, starting to walk over to get a better look. the Hermes kid laid on the ground, and I was pretty sure his nose was bleeding. I eventually reached the two, standing a few feet away. the tall kid stood up straight and cracked his neck. I couldn't tell who it was yet, but he had brown hair, and like I had said before, was tall and well built. just as I was about to pat his back and congratulate the camper he turned around. to my dismay, it was Dominic. my hand hung in the air for a moment before i put it to the side. "Dominic." I said, straightening slightly. "cremark." he replied with a glare.

dominic, who also goes by his last name Allen, and I were not friends. and by not friends i mean we fought with each other every chance we could. he was my half brother, and inherited some traits from my father. "could've wasted less energy if you aimed for his neck or chin." i said, watching him. "where's the fun in that?" he asked. he crossed his arms across his chest and met my eyes. in all honestly dominic was a great fighter like most ares kids, but I wasn't admitting that to his face. instead of continuing with him i offered a sarcastic smile and turned away, pushing my way back out of the crowd.

some campers were still at breakfast i assumed as I headed towards the eating area. campers ran all around, and some were in the trees doing courses on the ropes. occasionally a body would hit the ground. i jogged to the pavilion and gathered food onto my plate. the cafeteria was quieter than usual, but that wasn't a big surprise. after collecting my food I took my seat at the ares table. a few kids that i never talk to were sitting there, but none of my real close friends. i looked across the different tables and spotted September and Sav reading and talking at the Athena table. the two looked nearly exactly opposite in physical features. September had a soft, rounder face than Sav. her head was also full of pretty blonde curls, while sav had dark brown hair and cunning look to her. both girls had small frames, but were skilled with their battle smarts. i stabbed my fork towards my plate, then looked down to realize I had eaten it all. I looked towards the fire and muttered, "sorry father." then stood up to put my plate away.

the day was hot and humid, and with sweat already beading on my arms I knew that this capture the flag would be an interesting game. i made my way towards the woods, quickly darting in through some thick brush. the forest was cooler, and I could feel the slight breeze against my neck. i could hear the familiar sound of the stream and i picked up my pace with a smile.

I reached the stream in a short amount of time and stood still, watching the water flow by. suddenly, hearing rustles of leaves behind me, I grabbed my dagger from my belt and spun around. not so surprisingly, there was a point of a sword to my chest, and it's owner was one of my close friends. "hey dy." the blonde haired girl sheathed the sword and smiled. "hey aella." I opened my mouth to ask why she was out here, but then shut it. dynemia was a daughter of Poseidon, so it made sense she was hanging out by the water; although I wasn't so sure she was alone. her boyfriend is gabe, a brown haired and tricky Apollo kid, and they were nearly always together, but in the cute good way. dynemia had wavy, blonde hair that made her blue eyes seem to shine even brighter. she mostly wore it down, but in important events it was always pulled back. she was about my height, so fairly tall, and always carried her sword, typhoon. "why're you out here?" she asked, casting a quick glance around. i shrugged. "I'm not really sure. I suppose I was just bored, and it's way cooler in here than at camp." I offered a smile and she returned it.

a few minutes later we sat down next to the creek, talking about battle strategies for capture the flag. occasionally we'd splash water onto our faces and arms to help us stay cool, but it barely worked. as we talked it seemed as if the noise from camp was getting louder. "what the hell is going on?" dy asked, turning her head towards camp. I did the same with a shrug. "I'm not sure," I looked over at her and nodded towards camp. "want to go check it out?"

we hurries through the woods while listening intently. there were too many people talking to understand what was happening, but as we approached closer and closer we heard an ear splitting shriek. "who was that?" dy asked, picking up her pace. I paused were I was and my eyes widened with worry. I looked at dynemia and muttered. "rowan. it was rowan!" and with that we both took off sprinting towards camp.
