Everyone knows the story of Endymion. He was a handsome shepherd -prince who was loved by the moon goddess herself. Zeus had asked him to choose his destiny, to which he chose immortality and youth in deep slumber. He was laid out in a cave in Latmus in Karia where the moon goddess, Selene would visit him every night.
Selene was a helpless lover. She had tried all sorts of magic to wake her love from his deep slumber but couldn't find a way. As the goddess and Endymion were immortal the story still continues. The story of the love that wasn't supposed to happen. The love story which was healed by time.

The moon goddess fell to her knees and leaned forward to place a sweet kiss on the beautiful face of the mortal she fell in love with. Her Endymion. She gently stroked the face of her lover with the back of her hand and thought to herself.
How could she wake the mortal she adored? Will she ever find a way to wake her Endymion from eternal sleep? How long will she have to wait for him to wake up?
She lay her head on the chest of her lover and felt the light thump of his heart. The only sound that gave her hope that he will wake up some day. As she listened to the thump of his heart the light from the moon landed on them from the opening of the cave and blessed the two.
This was it for Selene every night. She would descend to meet her handsome shepherd and lay on his chest the whole night listening to his heart beat and thinking what she could do to wake him up.
Selene had visited many wise and old witches and wizards for help but no one was powerful enough to be able to break the slumber Endymion was in. She had also taken help of the humans and their medicines but in vain. She had realised that the only way left to wake her sweet Endymion was to ask help from the lord who had granted him this destiny. Zeus himself.
She left fair Endymion's side and went all the way to Olympus, the home of all the Olympian gods and goddesses. Selene entered the great white doors hoping to find some help from her siblings.
As soon as she entered the throne room she noticed the three thrones on a pedestal. The big throne of lord Zeus and the comparatively smaller throne of lord Poseidon and the always empty throne of lord Hades. The other Olympians were below the pedestal with equally beautiful thrones. Five on one side and five on the other side, making a way towards the throne of Zeus. Hera, Hestia and Athena, Hermes and Aphrodite were on one side sitting gracefully on their thrones, each throne showing a glimpse of the power vested in the lord sitting on it. The other side had Demeter, Hephaestus, Ares, Apollo and Artemis' throne. Selene's brother, Apollo had a smirk playing on his lips when he saw his sister entering Olympus. Her throne beside Apollo was empty but showed the power she had. Artemis was just another name for the beautiful Selene. Selene walked to her throne and sat on it. She felt more powerful on her throne. She came back to her original form as a goddess. She was tall and bright like every other god or goddess in their original form but she wore a white gown with navy blue designs showing her as the moon goddess. She, like any other Olympian had a crown of olive leaves on her head.
" Selene, I suppose your mortal lover has yet not died? "
Zeus said holding his head high and addressing Selene.
" No my lord, he hasn't. I wanted to talk to you about this matter though. "
She stated not backing down from her desire.
" Oh sweet Selene. We have been talking about this matter since ages now. I told you, he chose his fate himself. There is nothing that I can do. "
Zeus said knowing how much pain Selene was going through watching her love like that.
" You can't change the fate he chose, my lord, but you can change his future. A simple request in the name of our daughter, Pandia, let there be a way to wake my fair Endymion from his deep slumber. "
Selene pleaded with all her hope that there will be a way to wake him up and Zeus will help her.
Zeus thought about it for sometime and then agreed to help Selene who was once his lover. Selene was grateful for the help she got from the great Olympian.
