Yuri started practicing and seemed to notice that he had done his routine perfectly for the first time. He had only learned it a weak ago, and couldn't land anything with the mood he was in.
It was Otabek that made him stronger, and that was all he needed.
After he had finished in an end position so precise, he skated to the side to greet Otabek with his mouth wide open clapping loudly.
"That was amazing!!" He exclaimed.
"It was nothing" Yuri denied.
They looked a each other for a moment but Yuri then decided to get back to skating.
After a few minutes, Yuris coach had a phone call. He gave Yuri a look of remorse and called him off the ice.
"It's your grandfather," He said with a frown on his face, "he's in hospital."
Yuris face scrunched up as he tried with all his might not to cry.
'Grandpa.'
Yuris coach called a cab and him, Yuri and Otabek raced to the hospital.
By this point, Yuri was back to his normal face but it was a cold and a pale as ice.
"It's going to be okay." Soothed Otabek.
He knew what was going to happen; his friend had his family members die in a big accident. He had his hopes up for each one. Death is a thing that people need to cope with.
They arrived after a long 10 minutes and they rushed inside to the desk and asked what had happened while they were traveling.
"Your grandfather is in room 12, he is going down hill. All we can do is wait."
Said the old lady at the seat.
"How long does he have?!" Crude Yuri through tear after tear.
"A few hours." Stated the lady.
Yuri curled up on the floor. He wanted to see his grandpa. They took him there to his bed.
The old man was as sick as ever; his hair was falling out and his nose was runny.
"Yuri!" He grumbled.
Yuri ran and hugged him and whispered in his ears what he had never gotten to tell him.
"I love you."
Silence.
And then the bleeping stoped. He was gone. And he had swept Yuris happiness with him.
Otabek held Yuri in his arms. Hope.
"All grandpa wanted was for me to have someone to be there for me," Cryer Yuri!
"And he got his wish" answered Otabek.
