"Are you ready?" I ask Ethan. As soon as school ended I drove him right up to the dirt road. Mom took me here when I was learning how to drive. Mamma wanted me to just do drivers ed, but mom thought it would be more run to do it this way, which it really was. So much fun that I think even Ethan could appreciate it. I told them that I wasn't going to be home right after school. But I fabricated what I was doing, technically since I haven't had my license for a year yet I'm not suppose to teach anyone to drive, so I said that I was forcing Ethan to spend time with me because Grayson is convinced that it would be good for him, which is technically true. I just haven't told them what we were doing.

"I guess so." He says.

"Okay, lets switch seats." I say before we get out and change sides, so he has the drivers seat and I have shot gun. "Okay, put the car in drive first." I tell him. He nods and changes the gears. "Good, now lightly step on the gas."

"Okay.." He mumbles before stomping down on the gas pedal, revving the engine. We both laugh a little at that.

"Okay, big foot as cool as that sound is, it's bad for the car." I laugh. "Try again, but lightly."

"Okay, I think I have it this time." He says, actually lightly putting his foot down this time. Before too long, we start driving. Very slowly- I may add. "I'm doing it!" He says with a smile, a genuine one.

"Good job, but you can press on the gas a little harder, you're worse than my grandma." I joke.

"Right, faster." He says before stomping down again, causing us to go way too fast.

"Okay now that I have whiplash, try driving in reverse." I tell him.

He nods as he changes gears and slowly backing up. "I suck at this." He sighs, but also laughs a little. "I either go too fast or barely move."

"You think you're bad?" I ask. "My first time driving I almost landed mom and I in a ditch. You just need to find your happy medium."

He puts the car back in drive and starts going. "Like this?" He asks, speeding back up again.

"This is good." I say. "Really good for your first time." I say.

"Sweet." He says as he keeps driving around the road. "This is actually fun." He says. "I can't wait until I can drive for real."

"Well, I can keep bringing you here until you're good enough to not tip the cops off." I tell him. "When you get the hang of it more, I'll let you drive around town, just don't tell anyone, okay?"

"You'd actually do that?" He asks, looking over at me.

"Yeah, of course." I tell him, with a smile, but it soon drops as I see us headed for a tree. "Eyes on the road, Ethan!" I yell, taking the wheel, turing us away from the tree.

"I think we should just forget about it." He says with a frown. "It's a nice thought, but I'll learn when I'm off parole."

"Oh fuck off." I tell him and laugh. "You almost kill us by smashing into one tree and you're already done with my lessons?" I ask.

"Well, kinda.." He says.

"Not that easy, keep going, you were doing really good!" I say. "Just keep your eyes on the road, a lesson I too learned the hard way." I tell him. "You think this is bad, I almost hit someone while he was taking a short cut, not my first time either. My fourth or fifth."

"Actually?" He asks.

"Yeah, that didn't stop me, so don't let this stop you." I tell him. "You can't give up every time something slightly inconvenient happens. That's for life in general, not just driving, you'll get the hang."
