I gently pick up my denim jacket, along with a pack of cigarettes. I open our room door carefully, trying to be as silent as possible. I didn't want Rena to wake up and find out I was meeting up with Luke. He made it clear that no one could know about us, that this relationship (or whatever it is) is real. And of course that the last thing I want is to cause any more problems between Luke and his friends. Their rules were taken very seriously. Maybe way too seriously. But if that is what it takes to be with Luke, I will do it.

This old heavy door wasn't making it any easier. When I see that the gap between the door and the wall is big enough for my body to pass through it, I step outside and lock back the door. Holding on to my gun, hidden under my denim jacket, I look left and right searching for Luke.

But he's nowhere to be seen.

Despite the fear, my instinct tells me to go right as carefully as possible. He has got to be somewhere. I glance back and forth, making sure that no one was following or watching me. So far, everything seems to be clear. So clear that there is still no sign of Luke.

Could this be a trap?

"Please, Luke. Please show up." I repeat to myself in a whisper, as my body becomes colder.

After a while of walking, I take my phone and text Luke. I wait three long minutes for his reply, but nothing. I try calling him. My body is shaking so much that even that beeping sound sends my anxiety through the roof. But still, no answer.

I turn left at the hall that leads outside and suddenly I feel something wrapping itself around my forearm tightly. As it got tighter, my body and mind react immediately, grabbing my gun and aligning it with my shoulder level, just like Luke taught me. In a split second, the hand holding my arm pulls my body foward, as I rest my index finger on the trigger. When I open my eyes, after one single blink, I point my gun to my enemy's neck, without even having enough time to process who it actually is.

"Woa there!!"

My whole body freezes. "Luke?"

He lifts up his hands with his palms facing me in a sign of surrender. "You're getting really good at this." He giggles.

"You asshole!" I slap his chest in anger. "What's wrong with you??"

"Ok, first, please put that gun away." I do as he instructs, rolling my eyes at his answer. "And second I-" He laughs again. "I just wanted to scare you! It was a joke!"

"You're a dick." I put my gun back safely in my pocket.

"Oh darling come on." He tries to hug me, but I push him away slightly. "Did I scare you?"

"Are you kidding me? Of course I was scared!"

"Shhhh keep it down." He rests his hands on my waist. "I didn't know you'd be pointing your gun at me." He pauses. "But I'm very proud of you for doing that."

"You deserved it." I take his hand and place it over my pounding heart. "Feel this? It's about to come out through my throat."

"You are right." He smiles lightly. "Come here." He holds me close to him, allowing me to rest my head on his chest. "It's ok, relax."

"I didn't mean to point it at you..."

"It's ok you were just being cautious, like I told you to." He lifts my chin up with his fingertips, connecting our lips in a soft kiss.

"It still feels wrong."

"It's fine" Luke kisses me once again. "Breathe..."

"I'm ok..." I stand on tiptoes to kiss him back as his hands rest on my waist. "Just don't do it again."

"I won't, I promise."

He connects our lips back together, moving his hands from my waist to my neck. "Good."

"Luke," I struggle to talk in between kisses, pushing him slightly away. "They're going to catch us."

"They sleep like rocks..." He holds me closer and kisses me again. "I do not want you to think about anything right now."

I giggle. "Alright."

I try not to think about anything, but there's something in the back of my mind that is keeping me from doing it. Luke seemed to be acting so weird on the way here, like as if something had been bothering him the whole time. It feels odd to me. Around me, his touch and his words felt and sounded so heavenly. But when his friends are around, everything changes.

"Luke?"

"Hm?" He mumbles.

"Is everything ok?" I break the kiss just slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean," He deepens the kiss even more, like he wanted to shut me up. "You acted... kind of... weird in the-" I let out a little moan from the back of my throat as soon as I feel his velvet lips touching my neck. "- the car..."

"Shhh." His kisses get sloppier and sloppier. "I was fine."
He lifts up his head, meeting back up with my eyes as he presses my harder against the wall.

"You sure?"

"Hm hm" Luke kisses my nose gently before pressing his forehead against mine. "I'm sure-"

Suddenly we hear a door bang coming from down the hall where our rooms are. The sound of lazy steps followed.

"Shit-"

I let go of Luke instantly and step away from him, not really sure of what to do.

"Go around the motel, that way-" he points as he whispers to me "Go back to your room."

"Ok" I give him one last peck on the lips before starting to run quietly back to my room. As if that was possible. I just hope no one noticed me. Along with the sound of my own foot steps, I hear two familiar voices behind me: Luke's and Michael's.

"What are you doing here this late?" Michael asks.

"I couldn't sleep without a smoke..."
