It was that time of the year again. We had to support our school’s basketball team so we were required to watch the basketball games. We would separate into groups because we had to commute to go to the venue.

We were in the classroom preparing to go to the venue. I was talking with Heechul and asking how many we were and if what time we’re going home when Kris suddenly but in

“Can I go with you guys?” he asked hesitantly

“uhm…” I looked at Heechul

“sure…” Heechul said

“I’ll carry your bag for you.” Kris said to me

“no, it’s okay. It’s not even heavy.” I said

We rode a bus to the venue and he sat beside me. He paid for my fare. The trip was silent and awkward. I was not used to people paying for me. When we arrived at the venue, he took my bag from me and started looking for seats. We sat beside each other and watched the game. Heechul and I were cheering for a certain member

“go number 4!” I shouted

“why did you cheer for him?” Kris glared at me

“because… he’s hot and he plays great.” I teased him

“he’s not really that good looking” he grumbled and slumped on his seat.

It was the 3rd quarter of the game and I was so focused when suddenly

“ahhh!” I screamed.

Kris poked my waist. I was really ticklish

“what is wrong with you!” I yelled at him and poked him back

“you weren’t noticing me. You’re so focused on the number 4 guy.” He yelled back and poked me again

“so, you want me to notice you?” I said to him

“yes.”

I tickled him. Kris fell to the floor yelling stop! Stop! I give up! Please! He was really ticklish. I started to laugh with him.

“guys, get a room” Heechul glared at us while we shrank back to our seats.

It was already 8 pm when the game was over. Our team won. we couldn’t find a ride because all of the busses were full.

“why don’t we start walking?” Victoria suggested

“okay” we all said.

When we started walking, Kris suddenly pulled on my bag and said

“Let me carry this for you.”

“You don’t have too. It’s really light. There’s only one book inside.”

“I insist.” He then slumped my bag on his shoulder.

I wasn’t walking on the side walk because there were a lot of people. He suddenly grabbed me and pulled me by his side

“don’t you know that it’s dangerous not walking on the sidewalk?” he sounded angry.

We started walking again. Every time I would step off the sidewalk Kris would call my call and with each call he got angrier. We came across a small store and decided to buy some drinks. Suho was really tired from carrying some of our friends bags because he and Kris wanted be a gentleman.

“let me help you.” I told Suho and took the bags from him.

Kris was busy buying drinks. When he turned around, he saw me carrying the bags and almost yelled at Suho

“why are you carrying those bags?” he yelled at me instead.

“Suho was tired.” I said

Kris glared at Suho and Suho immediately took the bags from me. Kris then handed me a drink.

“no, thank you.” I said.

But he still insisted and placed the drink onto my hand.

“drink.” He said and started walking.

He thought of a new plan to make me stop from walking off the sidewalk. He called me to walk by his side and he started to tell bits about himself.

A week after that night. He started to switch seats with Suho because Suho sat beside me during class. He would place his notebook on my arm chair and start to write the lessons. He would occasionally ask me questions. Like how was my day. Did I already eat. What were my plans for the day.

One day, while in class, I felt sick. I didn’t know that Kris was watching me. Suho had to call our teacher’s attention so that I could be brought to the clinic. When I stood up, Kris’ eyes were pleading, asking me if I was alright. Suho escorted me to the clinic. I was advised to rest for a while so I did. When I woke up from the nap, I checked my phone for the time. It was almost dismissal time. I also had three messages all from Kris

Kris: are you alright?

Kris: is there something wrong?

Kris: are you okay now?

I stood up and thanked the nurse. While I was about the go back to classroom, Kris was standing at the end of the staircase, when he saw me he immediately ran up to me

“are you okay now? You weren’t replying to my texts.” He said

“I just read them now. If you’ll excuse me I need to fix my things” and I started to walk up the stairs

“I’ll help you.”

“no need, Myungsoo’s still there.”

When I was about to turn around, I noticed that Kris’ hand was wrapped in bandage. I ran to him asked him what happened and out of reflex I held up his hand to examine it.

“it’s nothing. I punched the bus a while ago.” He turned his head away from me.

“why?”

“because I couldn’t do anything” he whispered

“what?”

“I –” then suddenly his phone rang.

“I need to go” then he started running.
