MIA POV

I woke up with the worst headache of my entire life. I groggily sat up but laid right back down when the pounding in my head got worse. I guess this is what a hangover is..

"Good morning sunshine," Emily says softly while walking through my door. Even though I knew her voice wasn't that loud, it seemed as if she were screaming to me.

"Agh, please not so loud Em," I said while running my fingers over my forehead. I drew my hand back to see little clumps of mascara and a foundation smudge on it. Man do I need a shower, I think to myself.

"Right sorry, well anyways I brought you up some aspirin and water. For well..ya know," Emily tells me while doing little, awkward hand gestures and pauses at the end not knowing what to say.

"Thank you Em," I try to send her a smile but I instantly regret it when my whole face hurts. I guess my face is just super sore from everything that went down last night.

"Alright, well I'll let you get cleaned up if you don't need anything else..." Emily told me walking towards the door.

"Um, actually Em quick question," I said nervously.

"Yeah?" She asked in her sweet tone of voice.

"Are dad and the older boys home?" I ask while looking down, my fingers  fidgeting around with my light pink comforter.

She lets out a sigh before answering, "Not yet Mia, but they should be home by sometime tonight or late afternoon. That is if the boys haven't told them anything. You know how it gets.."

"R-right, thanks again." I told her while I took my aspirin and followed it with the water.

"No problem," Emily says while sending me a sweet smile and leaving my room.

I head into the bathroom for a long well needed shower. As soon as I walked in I checked my face in the mirror and let out a gasp. All underneath my eyes there was bruising. My nose still had bandages on it, but you could tell they'd need to be changed very soon. My mouth was swollen and the stitches were still fresh, meaning they hurt to talk much or move my lips.

After I hurry up and shower I decide to throw my hair up into a high messy bun, leaving it damp. I throw on one of my brothers sweatshirts that I stole from them and put on some sweat pants as well. I figured I might as well get comfortable because it's going to be a long day.

By now my headache was pretty much gone, but I was really hungry. Of course with my mouth being the way it is I don't see food in my near future. I bet Sylvia would make me a smoothie, I think to myself.

Oh crap! How could I forget about Sylvia? She's been a mother figure to me for as long as I can remember. She'll murder the boys if I don't get to her first to explain.

"WELL WHERE IS SHE?!" I hear Sylvia's scream fill the whole house as if on cue.

I quickly run down my wooden stairs and almost wipe out because of my fuzzy socks. I stumble but recover as I hurry down to prevent my brothers murder.

"Oh my goodness, look at my poor baby!" Sylvia practically wails out and rushes to me to inspect my face.

"I'm fine Sylvia, really." I tell her trying to prevent her from worrying too much.

"You are most certainly not fine! Who did this to you Mia?" Sylvia turns down my attempt to save my brothers and demands an answer from me.

I look around the kitchen and see the twins along with all of my cousins staring at Sylvia with worry in their eyes. Sure they may be all big and bad, but they would be nothing without her in their life. They know it too, so they wouldn't ever intentionally hurt or disrespect her. And a big no is if you mess with me, her baby.
