Richard sat waiting for class to start. He pressed the cold beads of his new bracelet against his naturally hot cheeks to provide some sort of entertainment. Thankfully, the bell rang and Mr. Wecht walked into the room. As he took attendance a high pitched whine echoed down the hall with rapid footsteps. The sound was strangely familiar to Richard.
"My pussy!" The voice yelled as it ran past Mr. Wecht's room. Of course it was Arin who had done it. Richard barely managed to stifle his laughter and let out breathy wheezes; someone in the back of the room was doing the same. The professor marched to the front of his room and began organizing his papers.
"We are going to do a project about facial expression in correlation to auditory cues. I will be assigning you into groups." He lectured. The class collectively groaned but listened for their names. The professor listed off names, but Richard didn't hear his. Every other name had been listed off. Or so he thought.
"And finally, Dan and Richard. Get with your partner and begin working." He instructed before walking to the small boy's desk. Dan walked over and slumped down in the free chair. "Keep him on task, please. I think you may be a good influence." Mr. Wecht nearly pleaded before walking away."Did you fucking hear Arin?!" Dan enthused as soon as the teacher was out of earshot.
"Yep! He's, he's a special one. I adore him, and I've only met him once." He replied with a wide grin. Dan began laughing as he thought back on what had just happened a few minutes ago.
"Let's both pick some songs that make us happy, sad, whatever and have the other listen to them." The taller one recommended while pulling out his phone. Richard felt like he had swallowed a little ball of sunshine; it was fun to talk to Dan. Even just sitting next to him had boosted Richard's mood.
"Yeah! We should pick two for both types, not tell the other what song or what order, and document their expression." The American declared happily and pulled out his phone as well. He scrolled through the large amount of music before deciding on his four selections: Treble Heart and Welcome To My Life for sad, Heat of the Moment and Separate Ways for happy. Dan handed Richard his headphones and snagged a piece of paper along with a pen. The first song started and Dick recognized it. Take On Me! But whoever was singing had a smother sound. Richard smiled and lip sang along to the lyrics happily. As the track faded out, he pulled out the headphone and grabbed Dan's hand gently.
"Who sang that?! His voice was like Chocolate-Hazelnut Spred! So smooth and chocolaty." He enthused. Dan's cheeks changed to a delicate pink color.
"That's me. I'm in this band called Ninja Sex Party, and we did a cover of Take On Me." The other fluffy haired individual explained bashfully. Richard's jaw dropped with amazement. "Next song, bud." Dan instructed. The next two song were too familiar; She Will Be Loved and Chasing Cars. Both of the songs were special to him after all he had been through with his ex of sorts. He didn't register the tears in his eyes until one fell onto his cheek. Richard quickly whipped it away and mumbled that he was tired. The last song was an original by Dan's band about dinosaurs with lasers. They swapped set up and Dan began listening intently to the 'tunes' that were playing.
"My taste in music is weird. Sorry about that. I really like your band's stuff though!" The smaller of the two gays said honestly as they finished the test. Dan blushed slightly again and messed with his wild curls.
"Thanks bud. Your happy songs are fuckin' amazing! I love those songs." He stated in return. This time, our gay's face flushed with appreciation. "What was up with the tears though?" Dan asked with slight concern. Richard heaved a sigh and explained things while fighting back tears, negative emotions, and questions for himself. Dan buzzed his lips slightly before hugging his much small friend. Thankfully, class let out for lunch.
