Fast forward eight years later. Christian was twenty five and a top level analysis with the CIA. He and Jack Hyde worked together in secret location, listening to phone conversations and gathering intelligence from them. It was a boring job, but every now and then they'd find a nugget and pass it a long, and some terrorist or plot, or whatever, would be stopped.
Jack was antsy tonight. He looked forward to heading to the bar after hours. That seemed to keep him going. Christian took a break for a second; he needed to stand up and stretch, and fix his jeans. They were running up in uncomfortable spots. Right as he stood up, righted his blue jeans, his cell rang, and he picked it up from the table, pressing answering.
"Hello." Christian said with his deep, sexy voice. Jack hated that too. Christian was always getting the girls and by passing jack all together. "Sir....really. Yes sir...I'll be there as soon as possible. Thank you sir. You won't be sorry." Christian ended the call and stuck the phone in his front pocket, reached for his jacket, saying, "I gotta go."
"What's up?"
"Can't really talk about it. The director wants to see me about something."
Jack paused his screen, swiveled around his chair to glance at his friend. "You can trust me."
"Director ordered me not say to much. I got to go. I have to be there at o900 tomorrow. See ya." Christian smiled at his friend and logged out of his screen. He patted him on the shoulder and walked out.
Leaning back in his chair, Jack watched his friend walk out, and disappear. When Christian was gone, Jack turned toward his desk and leveled it clean. His jealousy was flaming red tonight. It was supposed to be his turn. It was always Christian. It was going to change and tonight Jack was going to set it in motion, but first he needed to know what the director wanted Christian for.
Jack picked up everything he'd knocked over, righted it, and called the directors cute secretary Kate. She had long blonde hair, perky little nose, cute dimples, and curves in all the right places. They'd dated a few times but she never did seem interested in him, but they flirted a little. Jack thought maybe she was interested in Christian's brother Ethan.
"Hey, Kate," He said as she answered the phone. "This Jack."
"Hey Jack. I'm just getting ready to head out. What can I do for you?"
"What has the director got for CG?"
The secretary was quiet for a moment before speaking softly, "This didn't come from me..."
"Of course not." Jack wasn't that stupid to get her into trouble.
"The president was so impressed with Christian and his find a few months ago, he's calling him up for a mission."
What the hell?
"Oh I see."
"That's all I know."
"Thanks, doll, appreciate it." Jack ended the call more upset than he had previously. "That should be me!" He minimized his program, bringing another up, and typed a name in the search field, and after a moment a name, and number of a low level Isis member popped up. Jack grabbed for his phone and typed out a quick text to this guy, while obscuring his number.
This terrorist guy was an asset to the organization, but Jack knew he would do what he was told.
The text was sent and jack set the phone on his desk, returning to his work once again.
