The men sped through the streets hurrying towards Escala, but the closer they got the penthouse complex, the more Christian began to feel as though something was amiss. A set up maybe. His gut was telling him they were expecting him, but who knew besides Taylor? Jackson came in last minute. Holy shit! It's him. They know. They know. We are going to walk into a trap. We fucking stupid.
This had to be nipped in the bud! Now!
Finally one more turn and they had the building in their sights. Christian slightly motioned his head toward the alley as he glanced over at his mentor. Taylor quickly picked up on.
"Come on." Taylor and Christian headed in that direction. Jackson seemed oblivious to what they were planing.
The former agents knew each other so well, they simply were able to anticipate their moves. Christian had had that with Jack in spades. It would going to be one hell of a fight when they do come together. Christian had hoped that would be the last resort. The most important thing was Ana and saving her.
Once they were further down the alley, the darkest part, Christian and Taylor whirled around, guns in hand, and aimed their guns right at Jackson. He seemed surprised, it was written all over his face.
"Guys, what's going on?" Jackson asked looking to and from Christian and Taylor.
"Drop your weapon," Christian ordered swiftly. "And kick the bag this way."
"Man, I trusted you with my life." Taylor shook his head in disgust. "How much did the bastard pay you to set us up."
Rubbing his bald head, Jackson sighed with a nasty smirk on his face. "Ya got me." He tossed the bag towards the two men and pulled the gun out of his pants, held it up as if he were about to drop it in submission, but he flipped the gun around, pulling the trigger. The bullets headed for both Christian and Taylor and they jumped out of the way.
The former agents shot back at Jackson, but Jackson quickly moved back behind a dumpster. It was so dark the only light that they had was passing cars and the occasional light from an apartment. It wasn't enough to illuminate their way.
"It's over," Christian told him.
One of the first floor's apartment window glowed brightly as Jackson stood up to take a shot, but Christian was to fast on the trigger, pulled it, the bullet went through the hair and Jackson squarely in the heart. The man went down like a tone of bricks. No one was the wiser especially when a car went by making a small loud explosion at the exact same time.
Christian and Taylor ran over to the bag, picked it, and headed for Jackson. When thy reached his body, Christian kicked the man's foot. The man didn't move. He was dead. Blood pooled around his dead body.
Too much time has passed. I need to get to Ana.
"We will take care of that later," Taylor said swiftly. "I know a cleaned."
A dirty, stained up blanket lay next to the body and Taylor reached for it, and then laid it over the body. He and Christian headed for Escala, running as fast as they could, weaving and bobbing around the pedestrians walking in the night.
Once they reached Escala, they had no way in. It was something that had thought about or gave time to think about. The only way in was a key card. They could easily break in but that would most likely trigger an alarm and police would come. Taylor looked around the lobby. It was very fancy. Dark leather sofas lining a dark cherry wainscoting and a small dark cherry desk nestled in the corner on the side of the room with security guard at the desk.
