Ana did not know what kind of fighting skills Christian had, but she figured he knew what was he was doing. To feel safer, she rushed over to their bag, and pulled one of the guns free, and headed for the stairs. Ana could see Christian peaking out from his vantage point.
"Christian..." Ana whispered as she reached him at the bottom of the steps.
The former agent glanced up at her, knitting his brows together. "What are you doing down here?" Christian pushed both himself and Ana back up the steps. "Can't you do anything you're told?" He could see his words came out way to sharp by the hurtful expressing making her pretty face. Ana instantly pulled away shocked and hurt. He soften his words, "I need to be able to protect you. Please, just go back up there. Okay?"
"I-I thought she might need this." Ana thrust the gun at her. It was laying in the palms of her hands.
It touched Christian to know Ana thought of him needing something to protect them with. He reached for the gun, turned the safety off it, and then stuffed it in the back of his jeans. "Thank you." He cupped her face in his hands and gave her a quick, chaste kiss on the lips. "Now go."
Nodding, Ana hurried up the steps, while Christian crept back down the stairs. He peeked around the corner, noticing a couple of men with guns inside the house. Just then a crash came from the front window in Vern's room, followed by, "What the hell?" Christian heard a loud boom and then a thud. "That will teach you from entering my home. You piece of shit."
Christian snorted at that and carefully stepped out into the living room, but was caught off guard when he was flung around into the wall. Pictures hanging up fell to the floor, glass shattered.
Knocked for a loop, Christian slowly stood up, blood trickling down his face from the cut above his eye.
"Bring it!" Christian snarled as he whipped the blood away with his hand and getting into a fight stands.
The two men stood stared, sizing each other up. The other was shorter and quicker, threw a right hook at Christian's chin, but Christian easily dodged out of the way. Christian double punch, first with the right then the left squarely on the nose. The nose crunched under the blow, blood slipping down his face. The man reeled back, came at Christian twisted to the side, wrapped his hands around his neck and intertwined them together. The man tried to get out of the grip but Christian flipped him to the floor, backside up.
"You okay?" Vern asked, gun in hand, as he came out of his room a little bloody and bruised, but otherwise ok.
"Yep!" Christian slammed the man's head on the floor hard knocking him out. "You okay?"
"Yep!"
Christian saw another man in the kitchen, reached behind his back for the gun, and tuned off the safety, and one quick motion shot the man coming for him. He stood up, walking into the kitchen, gun close to the point of his central part of his chest and the site close to eye level, while his left arm and shoulder hang loose and weak pointed to any unknown assailant coming his way.
Walking into the kitchen, Christian swept the area, till two more gunman can in. He and Vern shot them in their tracks. He makes his way to the backdoor, looking out at the yard, seeing the shadows of the shooters trying to keep hidden.
Christian suddenly dropped the gun at his side, turning towards the ceiling. There was a thud and Ana screaming for him.
"Shit!"
