I let Kili rest for a few days, allowing him to heal properly before he journeys on this quest, I am sending Legolas with him, as well as Bofur. I only told Bofur because he knew it was in our best interests that we let Kili grow up before we allow him to rule. Bofur insisted upon coming.
Kili stands before me, for the first time I see him clean-faced. In shining elven armor I actually think he may stand a chance. I give Kili the sword "orc-slayer" as a gift. It was once mine, and clearly too long for Kili. But the blade over time will begin to accustom to his minuscule preferences.
Bofur and Legolas are suited up in the same armor, I try to make as little eye-contact with Legolas as I can. It's actually entertaining watching Bofur struggle to put all that armor on over that ridiculous hat. I believe he was a toy maker, before Thorin recruited him to go on this mission and cause all this change.
I stand before the three, Kili stares at me.
"How long will the journey take?" Kili askes.
"As long as you make it."
