Chapter 16
I let out a shriek as they pulled the knife out, dripping with blood.
“Let him suffer, it will make her even more weak,” the guy called out, causing the guy with the knife to walk away.
“Chase, no.” I sobbed. I could feel him slowly losing consciousness. I pulled at the chains to get closer to him but they didn’t budge. I suddenly I remembered I had a bobby pin in my hair. I quickly pulled one out, my hair falling in my face. I used one hand to pick the lock; it took a couple tries before I finally got the first one. I hurried to get the second one and got it on the first try.
I rubbed my wrists before crawling over to Chase. I undid his chains with my bobby pin and his hands fell down in front of him. I put my arms around him, being careful of his wound, and cried.
“Don’t leave me,” I whispered to him.
I felt him move slightly before he whispered in a hoarse voice, “Never.”
I smiled, “Hang on; I’m sure help will be here any second.”
He gave me a slight smile. I put my hands on his face and gave him a light kiss. His face was growing paler by the minute. Where the heck was Jeremy?
I heard some screams before footsteps running into the room.
“ZOEY!”
“Jeremy, Chase needs help, he’s losing too much blood,” I said.
“Nick, Derek, take Chase to the pack doctor right away,” Jeremy said.
They nodded and walked over to me. I moved out of the way enough so they could pick him up. But I wouldn’t let him leave my sight, so I held onto his hand as tight as I could. I walked silently through the building with them. Turns out it is a half hour walk, just to get to my house.
“Stay with me, stay with me, stay with me,” I chanted in my head.
The boys’ brought him into a special room where the doctor would hopefully save him. I sat waiting, waiting, and waiting. I couldn’t take it anymore, I started pacing and chewing my nails.
Someone grabbed me by the shoulders, “Zoey, you need to calm down!” Jeremy yelled.
I stared back at him, “You would do the same thing if it was Carly in there,” I growled.
He flinched, “Don’t you dare bring Carly into this.”
“Guys, quit fighting!” Carly yelled.
I crossed my arms and turned my glare at the wall.
The door to Chase’s room opened and the doctor came out.
I quickly walked over to him, “What happened?”
“He’s fine, but he needs to rest for a while, if you want to see him it’s one at a time.”
I nodded and pushed through the door.
“Chase?” I whispered. I walked over to him and brushed a piece of his hair out of his eyes. His eyes opened and he looked over at me. I gave him a small smile and got down on my knees next to the bed.
“I thought I was going to lose you,” I whispered staring at him.
“I would never leave you,” he whispered hoarsely brushing his hand against my cheek.
I smiled and held his hand on my face with mine.
“Lay next to me?” He asked.
I shook my head, “I don’t want to hurt you, especially after they fixed you.”
