Authors Note
This is the first of at least two (hopefully three) Valentine's day fanfics! It is set before the Next Generation, as is made obvious. There will definitely be one more and the third may not be posted until Saturday. We shall see. A fourth will probably not happen as I am uninspired for writing that one ;) Anyway, enjoy!

"Valentine's day is a stupid celebration with absolutely no purpose."
John ignored Sherlock's complaints as he bustled around Sherlock's room, packing this and that into his suitcase for him.
"Why do we have to celebrate this ridiculous day?"
"Valentine's day is a day set aside to spend time with the one you are in a relationship with. That is what we are doing."
"I spend time with you anyway, why make this some stupid special day?"
"We'll have sex."
"We also do that anyway."
"A lot of it."
"I thought I made it clear, I said that anyway."
"Mycroft is paying for the weekend away."
"... You have made your point."
John smirked as he zipped up the suitcase. He knew exactly how to convince Sherlock to do things he didn't want to. If the offer of sex didn't work he had many things up his sleeve.
"Wait. Why is Mycroft paying for it?" Sherlock looked at John with a confused expression upon his fine features . For a genius he could be so forgetful.
"In his own words; this is an apology, brother dear. It will not happen again." John shrugged. It had seemed rather out of the blue when Mycroft had turned up dramatically at the house (as he often did) and proclaimed to Sherlock that he was paying for a romantic weekend away for the two of them as an apology for what happened all those years ago on a day John had name the Reichenbach Fall... Even though it had been three years, and John and Sherlock were now in a relationship, it was still a sore topic. And a very belated apology from Mycroft.
"Must have deleted it," Sherlock seemed to wave the thoughts away. John just sighed, one hand rested on the suitcase.
"Let us go," John eventually said, giving his husband a scrutinising stare. Sherlock gave a dramatic sigh, forcing himself to get up off the bed and swoop out the door in a graceful manner. John resisted rolling his eyes, following with Sherlock's suitcase (collecting his own, looked like he would be doing all the manual labour).
"Where are we going anyway?" Sherlock asked with a frown as he pulled on his coat and scarf.
"Some castle hotel near the sea." John shrugged. "Mycroft picked it out because supposedly it is a very romantic location."
Sherlock made a face, earning a glare from John. Sherlock opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by John.
"Don't you dare say a word. I'm sure it will be lovely and we'll have a nice relaxing time."
"Boring!" Sherlock exclaimed as they began to head out of the flat. John just shook his head in an exasperated manner, deciding not to reply. Sherlock would enjoy it. John knew he would even if the man himself would not admit it. They got a taxi in silence, Sherlock shooting John sullen looks. Probably because John had declined a case from Lestrade for him due to their weekend away. It was fine. Sherlock could handle it. John had to almost force Sherlock out of the taxi when they got to the station (Mycroft had offered to give them a car but John had declined, the train would be just fine).
