Chapter 31
Martin had woken earlier, both nervous and excited as he anticipated the day before him. It was the last day of school before the Christmas holidays began. He was going home, for quite a few weeks. He couldn't wait to see Hamish... He loved school and had so many great friends but he still missed his twin. And his Daddy, Papa and Molly. All of them. But Hamish the most. He couldn't wait to see them.
But he was also very nervous. The last day of school, which was a Saturday, was a sort of day were they displayed the work of pupils and the parents could go around the school. There was also some sort of Christmas show that started at midday. It was predominantly a play, well multiple small plays, though there was a dance section at the end. Martin was playing in the orchestra for the play and also dancing with others in his year. He was in two dances; a ballet one and a tap one. He wasn't so nervous about playing the violin, after all that was in an orchestra. He was nervous about the dancing. Doing it in front of a whole crowd of people... People he didn't know. His family. Everyone. He wasn't sure he could do it. No, he really wasn't sure he could do it.
The bell to get up rang at around nine, the weekend time. Martin lay in bed for a few more moments before getting changed into his school uniform. He had actually grown quite attached to it. It was surprisingly nice. Apart from the blazer. Finally he looped his green scarf around his neck with a smile. Thankfully they let him wear as it wasn't exactly different from the school colours or anything.
"You excited?" Max asked with a grin as they headed over to the dining hall, trailing the other three boys. The morning would start the same as normal, with breakfast being from nine until ten. They could pretty much do whatever they wanted with their time before they had to meet up for the show. The time they started varied with what they were doing. Martin and Max had to go along to the main hall, where they were doing it, for an orchestra practice beforehand.
"That and nervous," Martin replied with a shrug. "I'm looking forward to seeing my family... But the dancing? I'm not looking forward to that."
"Don't worry, you'll be great! I can't wait to see my family either. I'll have to introduce you to them!"
"If you say so," Martin smiled slightly at Max's reassurance, moving over to grab some cereal and sitting down at a table with the four boys in his year. "That would be nice. I'll introduce you to my family. I think they all came down from London last night and stayed in the hotel in town."
"I'd like to meet your family," Max nodded. The topic between the five of them stayed on family for a bit before changing to the show, homework and what they were doing for Christmas. It wasn't until ten o'clock that Max and Martin headed back to the dorm room to get ready. Martin sat down on his bed, gently picking up his violin from its case and tuning it carefully. Max did the same with his own, a light grin on his face as they tune in synchronisation. After this they both silently put away their violins, collected the other instruments they needed (the oboe in Martin's case and the trumpet and clarinet in Max's) and headed back out of the dorm. They walked in silence, being among the first to enter the great hall for the orchestra practice. Only an hour and a half before the show started. And maybe two, two and half hours until Martin had to dance. He was still nervous. Incredibly nervous.
From his place sitting with the violin's (there was five of them in total) Martin could see the hall filling up with parents and siblings. He bit his lip nervously glancing at Max to see that he was craning his neck in a search for his family. Martin looked back towards to the hall, deep blue eyes fixed upon the door and only entrance. He wasn't at all surprised that his family entered soon, exactly on time (trust his dad). He was surprised, though, to see that it wasn't only his dad, Papa, Molly and Hamish. Behind them came Aunt Molly and Benny along with Uncle Mycroft, Uncle Greg, Arianna and Myc. Everyone had come. Wow... This was worse than he had though. He didn't want them all to see him dancing! What if he messed up? He would undoubtedly mess up.
