Chapter 72

"I cannot believe that you got into Cambridge."

"You're pleased about it, Mols. You would miss me too much if I hadn't." Finn smirked at Molly as they both headed towards the student accommodation, suitcases trailing behind them. Not only had Finn got into Cambridge, doing Law (Finn, a lawyer, who would have thought), but it was at the same college as Molly. Typical. She just couldn't get rid of him.

"In your dreams," Molly snorted. "Well, at least your course is only three years long. If you were also doing medicine..." She pulled a face. It was bad enough that the course was six years long never mind if Finn would be hanging around the whole time. She had wanted to make new friends. Well, she still could. He would make friends in his own course and everything would be fine. She wondered if there would be any cute guys studying to be a doctor in her year. No, she couldn't think that! She had a girlfriend... Though that wasn't going too well at the moment. Noel was doing Psychology all the way up in St Andrew's and Molly was pretty sure the distance would kill it. It was sad but... Well it had kind of fizzled out. So if they broke up she would have to find someone else before summer. She couldn't go to Martin's wedding without someone!

"You'd be stuck with me for all of eternity," Finn supplied cheerfully as they reached the student accommodation building. He politely held the door open for Molly, who raised an eyebrow in his direction. He was just trying to get into her good books.

"That is a horrible thought," Molly made a face as she entered past him. "I think I would have to change university, or course."

"I'm very offended," Finn held a hand to his heart, wounded expression on his face. Molly just snorted. This was going to be a long day stuck with him.

After everything was sorted out with accommodation, thankfully there was a bit of distance between where they were both staying so Molly wouldn't have to put up with Finn all of the time, the two of them didn't really have much time to explore the campus. After all, Molly had a large appetite and right now her stomach was practically begging for food. So naturally she obliged. Finn had to tag along with her to the cafeteria, of course. Because she wanted to eat dinner with him.

"Molly, hey, Molly, over here!"

A grin formed on her lips as Molly stopped looking about in her attempt to find a place to sit, moving over to plonk herself opposite Heather. "Heather, Emily, nice to see you guys." She had been looking for them, knowing that both had got into Cambridge. All the same college, which was nice and a bit of a coincidence. But nonetheless she was glad for it. Some familiar faces were always good. After all both of her brothers had gone to University with their current partners. Of course, she was better at making friends than them. But it meant she knew she had people she would enjoy spending time with.

"And you too... Looking forward to starting medicine?" Heather made a face as she spoke. They were both going through the same course, though Heather aimed to just become a GP whereas Molly wanted to go into surgery. Which would just mean a few more years. More than a few.

"Yeah, of course," Molly smirked back. She truthfully was even if the years involved were copious. Her papa had said it was worth it every time you helped someone even if it was nothing more than prescribing medicine for a bad cough. Molly wanted to be able to save people, like her papa. And she'd also be able to solve crimes like her dad... So saving people in more than one way. She was definitely multi talented.

"Well, yeah, you'll be fine, you're smart."

"Hmph, I'm not so sure." Finn flashed Heather and Emily a dazzling grin as he sat next to Molly. Emily arched an eyebrow, while Heather rolled her eyes. Molly shot him an annoyed glare. "I'm joking, Mols, would you all stop giving me death stares!"

"Not sure about the others, but I'm certainly plotting you death," Molly said quite cheerfully as she dug into her food.

"It's kinda creepy how happy you sounded saying that." Finn shifted his seat slightly away from Molly, who just smugly put a piece of chicken in her mouth. That was what she had been going on. Maybe she could scare him enough that he would go away.

"Molly is good at that," Emily commented quietly. Molly gave her an unimpressed look. Emily shrugged. Okay, so it was true. Molly could be creepy and scary when she wanted to. She could act like her dad, and get scary like her dad. When she got angry that was. Which wasn't very often.

"So are we going to continue the monthly movie and gaming night?" Heather asked after a bit of silence, eyes twinkling.

"Jenny and Lisa went to different universities," Emily pointed out. "That cuts out about half of the players."

"Well, we'll all make at least one other friend," Heather replied with a shrug. "And we already have another player." Her gaze honed in on Finn and soon her and Emily wore identical smirks.

"Hell no!" Molly exclaimed, just as Finn gave a rather lazy "Sure". He was into movies, but he had no idea what gaming entailed. He loved video gaming though.

"Right, we're going to need to make him a character sheet..." Emily began before beginning to ramble on about D&D stuff. Finn's face just got more and more shocked as he realised just what he had gotten himself into. Maybe this wouldn't be so fun.

They didn't take much longer to eat, Molly managing to fill up her previously growling stomach. They all headed back to the accommodation together and Heather and Molly organised to meet the next day so they could go to class. With that done Molly stayed up reading, after a quick phone call to her dads to tell them that she was okay and nothing had happened. She was a bit nervous about tomorrow. Her first day at university. But at the same time, she was excited. It was going to be great.
