Mark got up for the first day of the last school year just because of his alarm clock, which seems like the loudest and most annoying thing in the world right now. He put on his lucky flannel, and some random jeans and shoes, luckily putting on the same shoes this morning. He walked down the stairs, hoping to avoid his parents and just get this day over with. His hopes were too high, he noticed, as his mother got out of the kitchen with a plate full of waffles.

"Good morning hun! You slept well?" She asked, hoping for an answer that is made of words, but instead just got a little nod. "Oh come on! It's been a year! I want to hear your beautiful voice again, please?" Again, she just wanted him to say something, anything, but Mark only shook his head. "Do you want to talk at all?" This time, Mark nodded. The truth was, he wanted to talk about so many things with his friends and family, but he was afraid. Afraid that they'll judge his amazingly low voice.

"Okey, I want you to promise me something." She said, and Mark only raised an eyebrow, encouraging her to continue. "Until the new year, you can keep on with your 'not talking' thing, but after the new year, I want you to say something, no matter to who, no matter what, just something. I promise we won't judge you, okey?"
She finished, and Mark hesitantly nodded for the last time in this morning. "Now, have fun on your first day of school! I want to hear everything about it!" She said excitedly. Mark only smiled and walked to the door. After he waved her goodbye, she whispered to herself ,"although, I don't think I'll get to hear about it anyway."

After his little chat with the mysterious guy, Mark got in the school and saw Bob and Wade, his best friends. "Hey Mark!" Wade said, and they welcomed him with a big hug. Mark waved at them, smiling, but now the smiles on Bob and Wade were replaced with a frown. "Are you still not talking?" Wade asked, disappointed. Mark nodded, but sent him a message that said that he would talk in the new year.

The smile quickly appeared again on Bob and Wade's faces as they saw the message. "That's great bud, it'll be nice to see what the hell happened to your voice that you don't want us to hear it. Of course we won't judge you." Bob said, it looks like his smile won't disappear soon.

They got to their class, their teacher, Mrs. Ashes doing her usual speech about their new year tradition - the giant and the dorf. As she called Mark's name, he immediately came and took his note, just wanting to get it over with. But, when he saw the name on the note, his face paled, and he was filled with anger and sadness at the same time.

At lunch, Wade and Bob noticed his change in mood. "Hey, are you okey? You seem a bit down." Wade asked, "We mean, more than you usually are." Bob added. Mark just shook his head and smiled, signaling that he's okey. "Okey man, but tell us if something's up." Bob said. "Um.. I need to go to the.. Bathroom! Yeah, the bathroom. Are you coming Bob?" Wade asked, the nervousness is clear in his voice. "What? Why would I go with you?" Bob asked, confused. But when Wade kicked his leg lightly, he seemed to remember something.

"OH! Yeah, yeah I'm coming." He said and quickly stood up with Wade, the both walking out of the cafeteria. Mark raised an eyebrow after that, but figured it was just them being weird, as always. Speaking of weird things, where are Tyler and Ethan? They're always sitting together at lunch. This day is just weird, Mark thought.

"So, is everyone here?" Bob asked as he and Wade got to the big tree behind the school, the meeting place. "We have here you guys, me, Ethan, Tyler, Cry, and Marzia." Felix answered. "Where the hell is Dan and Phil?" He shouted. Just then, two boys we're running in their direction. "Sorry we're late, Phil spilled all of his juice on his shirt." Dan said, and Phil smiled nervously as he pointed to a huge stain on his shirt under his jacket.

"As Phil as you can be." Felix chuckled. "Did you know Mark hadn't said even a single word to anyone for a year?" He asked. "Yeah, rumors say that only a couple of students heard his voice." Ethan said. "Why?" Marzia asked the question that everyone wanted to ask. "I think he's helping Nate and some other students to make a show or a musical."

"So, what are we going to do?" Tyler asked. "Those two had the strongest friendship I've ever seen. It hurts seeing them like that, especially if it was just because of a misunderstood incident." Marzia said. "Okey, so first, we need to speak to their parents and tell them what we're gonna do, we don't want them to freak out." Phil said, and mentioned for Dan to continue. "My mother is the principal of the school, we can do it here." He added.

"Great! You just need to ask for a permission." Felix said. "Oh, it wasn't my idea, it was hers. I think we have a permission." Dan smiled. "Awesome. So, when are we gonna do it?" Tyler asked. "I was thinking about the Friday before the new year, it's gonna be two and a half days, and Mark promised us he's gonna talk from the new year. Maybe Jack can make him talk." Bob said.

"Okey guys, I texted their parents, we can do it." Felix said and showed everyone his phone. "Good, the mission is on. Now, let's go to class before we're late." Ethan looked at his watch, and everybody went to their own class.

Mark got home a bit upset that day, he didn't want Jack to be his giant. He managed to explain all about that game to his mom, who seems a bit happier than she always look. Why is everyone acting so weird today? Mark asked himself. When his mother got out of their house excitedly to buy a lot of nice things for the little 'treats' Mark needs to give Jack, Mark got to his room and decided to chat a bit with the mysterious guy.

M.F- This day was so weird! Plus, I got the worse giant ever.

S.M- Did your friends act weird too? I got a bad giant too btw.

M.F- Yeah, my friends were weirder than their usual. Why is your giant bad?

S.M- he's a bloody fucking shit-head!

Mark stopped writing. He knows only one person who talks like that, and, his real name starts with an s. This person, his best friend, was his best friend before the incident. Now he knows, this person is Jack. He got out of his trans when his phone buzzed endlessly.

S.M- Dude, are you okey? You didn't say anything. Whet happened?

M.F- I know who you are.
