When we got back to the Five-O Headquarters, I stood in the main part of the HQ looking at a monitor that had a camera feed in the interrogation room. Carlos was sitting in the sliver chair where I once sat, looking around and didn't seem to have a care in the world.
"You ready," Steve said walking next to me.
"Are you ready to hold me back incase I break this guys neck," I said.
"We got you," Steve said slapping Danny on the shoulder.
Steve, Danny and I walked down to the basement of the building and into the interrogation room, Carlos eyed us all up when we walked in.
"Look at this," Carlos chuckled, "I don't get one, not two but three officers asking me questions. So, which one of you is going to be the good cop and which the bad? I assume that Detective Dent will be the worse of you three."
"So tell me," Steve said, "What was your plan all along? You came here thinking what, you could escape everything. And then when Detective Dent and his partner roll in, you find yourself in the trouble so what do you do. You take both of them out and everything would be hunky dory."
"So he is the cop that tries to figure everything out," Carlos said, "And little munchkin in the back there is the silent one."
"That's funny," Danny said.
Carlos gave a quick smile to Danny and then looked back over to Steve and I, "And my boss laid out my plan for me. When he discovered that Dent and Phillips were coming to this island, he knew it would be the perfect opportunity to strike and take down the two people who couldn't let this case go. Sadly, I missed my opportunity to take both of you out. When Phillips got shot, I knew that Bryce here, would immediately pin me as the shooter. After all was said and done, I went to my aunt's house, but when I got there she was dead. My boss left me a text saying, "Do the job right next time." It was a threat and I knew that he had to be taken out."
"So why call upon me," I asked.
"Because I knew that if I threatened your family and the family of your new found friends here that you would do the job. Little did I know that you would be a back stabbing bitch."
"I am not a back stabbing bitch," I said, "I did everything in my power to find your boss. Broke into a home, got arrested and you still think I haven't done anything. As Steve has said before, your boss is a hard man to find. So don't make my family suffer because you can't get justice for your aunt."
"You think that this is just about my aunt," Carlos said, "It is much more then that, ever since that attack on your headquarters, this man has found every reason to make my life a living hell. And it is all because I COULDN'T KILL YOU."
Steve and Danny looked at me.
"What beef does your boss have with Bryce," Steve asked.
"How the hell am I suppose to know," Carlos said, "All I do is get paid."
"Again," I said, "If your main mission was to kill me then why not just do it in the alley way?"
"Perhaps I saw more in you," Carlos said, "Or perhaps I like the chase."
"So me going to find out who your boss was, was just a huge goose chase," I said.
"Your words," Carlos said.
Suddenly the door behind us made a unlocking sound, and Chin stuck his head in.
"Bryce," Chin said, "It's Judy."
"We aren't done here," I said to Carlos as we walked out.
"Oh I think we are," Carlos said, "It was nice chatting, mi amigo. We must do it again."
We walked back upstairs to the main section of the HQ and I stopped infront of a TV monitor to see Judy there was a huge smile on her face.
"Is it true," Judy said, "Did you actually catch him?"
"Well it was mostly Five-O that got him," I said, "But yes. We got him."
"Kessler is going to be very happy to hear about this," she said, "Now, it is time for you and your partner to come home. Interpol will handle the arrangements of getting Carlos over here."
"We aren't done yet," I said, "What about his boss?"
"That will be another issue that will be addressed when you and Nora come back over here," Judy said.
"You don't understand," I said, "As long as his boss is still at large I and my family will have a target on our backs. Turns out that the entire time, the bombing, Nora getting shot everything, had to do with the fact of trying to kill me."
"All the more reason to get you back here so you can placed under protective watch," Judy said.
"What about Nora," I asked, "Last I checked she was still in no condition to fly back to London."
"At this point, we will have to do separate flights back over here," Judy said, "I'm sorry, but with this new information about the threat on your life. It would be better for you to leave tonight."
"I'm not leaving Nora," I said, "She wouldn't leave me and I won't leave her."
"Bryce," Judy said, "This isn't an order from me, it is from Kessler. If you don't leave tonight, when you come back to London, you won't have a badge at all."
"We will keep an eye on her, " Steve said.
I smiled at Steve and then let out a huge sigh.
"Fine."
"Good," Judy said, "The pilot will land at the Oahu private airstrip in a half hour. I'm sorry Bryce."
Judy ended the transmission. I turned my back away from the TV monitor and leaned back on the glass table.
"Nora won't be happy when she wakes up and sees that I'm not there," I said.
"She'll understand that you had to leave for your own safety," Kono said, "For your families safety."
"Yeah," I said, "I guess your right. Hey, I am going to go freshen up a bit before we head off to the airstrip."
"We will be here," Steve said as I walked away.
I exited the main part and went off to the right and entered a bathroom. When I got in there, I looked at my cut up face from where I was attacked by Carlos. My arm, from where the graze wound was, was all patched up thanks to Kono. I turned on the water and knelt down to wash off my face.
Suddenly I felt a gun pressed to my back.
"Hello Bryce," a familiar voice said.
I slowly bent back upward and began to turn around to see who is was.
"Don't turn around," the gunman said bring the gun up to the back of my head.
"Look," I said, "I don't know who you are or what you want, but I have had a pretty rough day so I highly advise putting that weapon down before I make you put that weapon down."
"You don't know who I am," the gunman said, "It's only been 2 days and you already forgot who I am."
I began to think about where I had heard that voice before, it was so familiar. I began going into the deep reaches of my brain, trying to put a voice to a face and then suddenly a lightbulb went off.
"Kenny," I said turning around.
The butt of the gun then came a crashed me against the head.
"Told you not to look back mate," he said as I began to slowly fade into unconsciousness.
