I woke up to the splash of cold water, when I opened my eyes a bright light that hung above shinned in my face. I spit out the water that had gotten into my mouth and tried to squint to see if I could see Kenny anywhere. I wasn't until a punch came out and striked me right across the face.

"That felt good," Kenny said pacing in front of me, "I have been wanting to do that since the first time I laid my eyes on you."

I spit out the blood out of my mouth and looked up at Kenny.

Kenny Blair, my oldest friend. Both of us served in the military, fought by each other sides and after the military, he went back to school to get his degree in human biology and I joined the police force. When I got out, I was surprised to see that he was working in the same station as me.

"What the hell, Kenny," I said, "You are Carlos's boss? How long have this been going on?"

He let out one more punch before saying, "Why do you ask so many questions?"

"Forgive me," I said spitting out more blood, "I would like to know why my friend of 10 years suddenly went rouge."

Kenny let out a sigh and the said, "Do you know how much I make as a coroner? Roughly 53,000 pounds a year. Barely enough to pay for my studio apartment, car, and the basic needs that every human being needs. So, how to change this situation? You make a deal with some bad people here and there and soon you are making 10 times that but per week."

"You hire to kill people for a living," I said, "Is that really worth it?"

"Honestly," Kenny said, "Yes it is."

"Your psycho," I said, "You killed 12 innocent police officers and all for what. A misally 530,000 pounds."

"Let the record show, I never actually kill anyone," Kenny said bending down to get into line of sight, "It is people like Carlos that do."

"What about Carlos's aunt," I said.

"Oh yeah," he said straightening up, "I guess have killed one person in person. And soon, I will be adding another one to that list."

Kenny walked over to a tray that was behind him and looked at the various tools that he had on the tray.

"What the hell did I ever do to you," I said wiggling in my chair.

"What did you do," Kenny said turning around with a scalpel in his hand, "Let's not forget what happen in Pakistan. Operation Viking. Leaving me behind to get taken by the enemy. I was tortured and left to die out there. And I got out all on my own. No thanks to you."

"Jesus Christ," I said, "No one knew where you were. You don't think I tried to find you."

"You could have come back," Kenny said, "But let me guess. You had to think about your new bride."

"It was risky," I said, "Kenny, if I knew where you were I would have come, you know that."

"Well you didn't," he said getting closer to me, "And now you will feel the pain I felt."

Kenny moved the scalpel to my throat and then my phone went off. He turned around, when he did, I took out the back of his leg and then bust out of the zip ties and tackled him to the ground. I started out on top of him but he grabbed the scalpel he had and drived it across my face. I fell back, he then grabbed me and pushed me on to the counter where my phone was, I saw that it was Steve. I grabbed the phone and then bashed it on Kenny's head. While he staggered back, I answered the call.

"Bryce where the hell are you?"

"I don't know," I said kicking Kenny back, "But help would be nice. Track my cell."

Kenny then drew out a gun and then fired once at me which I managed to dodge, by ducking behind the counter.

"HURRY," I said placing the phone down.

When I peered around the corner, he fired twice more. I looked around me and then grabbed a bottle rubbing alcohol.

"You are out gunned," Kenny said, "Come out and except the fate."

I took a deep breath, stood up and then hurled the bottle right at Kenny's head. He fired the same time I threw it. I felt the bullet enter my shoulder. The bottle crashed on Kenny's head, knocking him unconsciousness. When I grabbed my shoulder and then walked over to where Kenny was laying down. I grabbed his gun and then the zip ties that were near by. After I tied him all up, I grabbed a bucket of cold water and then splashed it on him. He shot awake and then struggled to get out of the ties.

"You son of a bitch," Kenny said, "You think that just because you caught me your family is safe. They will never be safe. Never. I have people that know what to do if anything were happen to me."

I clicked my gun and then pointed it at his head.

"Do it," Kenny said smiling, "You pull that trigger and you kill your wife and daughter."

I took a deep breath and then heard the door being kicked in. Five-O filed in with SWAT team following them.

"Bryce," Steve said stopping when he saw the position I was in.

"You got here just in time, Commander," Kenny said, "Bryce here was just about to make a decision on his families fate."

"Bryce," Steve said ignoring Kenny, "I know what is going on in that mind right now. Trust me, alright? But, it is worth the safety of your family. No matter how bad he hurt you."

I kept eye contact with Kenny who just kept smiling.

"Listen to him Bryce," Danny said, "Putting a bullet in his head won't make you feel any better. Think about Nadia and your wife."

I let out another sigh and then lowered the gun. Steve came near me and took the gun out of my hand.

"Good choice," Steve said, "Book'em Danno."

"I hate when you say that," Danny said walking to grab Kenny, "I really do."

I walked out of the warehouse that I was in, and was lead to the back of ambulance. While Kenny was taken out by Danny, he kept eye contact with me and remained eye sight with me until he was driven away.

"You alright," Steve asked coming over by me.

"You think you trust someone," I said looking at Steve, "But turns out, you can never trust someone enough. Even if you knew them for 10 years."

"Trust is a scary thing," Steve said, "But, you know what, without trust what do we have in this huge, divided world?"

"That is very insightful," Danny said walking up, "And guess who I just got off the phone with?"

"Who," I said getting off the back of the ambulance.

"The hospital," Danny said, "Nora is awake and asking to see you."
