I sat on a silver chair in the middle of a cement room, my hands were locked in on the side of the chair. The lighting was very dim, unlike any other integration room that I have ever seen. I kept my head looking down at my feet, I lifted my head back up when I heard the loud buzzing sound and the giant metal door opening in front of me. Steve and Danny walked in.

"I didn't want to do it, Bryce," Steve said crossing his arms.

I remained silent and just looked at both of them.

"That's good," Danny said, "Don't talk because the less and less you talk, the greater chance that Carlos and his boss has a chance to get away."

I kept quiet and looked down at my feet.

"Why are you acting this way," Steve asked, "I thought you love to see Carlos behind bars and was more his boss. So why did you let him go in that alley way?"

My phone then went off in my pocket. Steve looked at me and then I said, "Give me a hand."

Steve bent  down  and reached into my pants pocket to pull out my cell phone, he flipped it over and then said, "Unknown number."

"It's him," I said wiggling in my handcuffs, "ANSWER IT."

"Get Chin to track the signal," Steve said to Danny.

When Danny ran out of the interrogation room, Steve looked at me once more before answering the phone.

"Bryce," Carlos said when Steve picked up, "Bryce, Bryce, Bryce. I give you a simple task. To bring forth my boss to me and what do you do? You get yourself arrested."

"Your boss is a hard man to find, Carlos," Steve said.

"Steve Mcgarrett,"Carlos said, "No offense but this is between me and my partner."

"DON'T CALL ME THAT," I said, "I will never ever work for you."

"Well, if that is how you feel then your services are no longer required," Carlos said, "I guess if you want something done you have to do it yourself. However, since I have to now take on this responsibility of catching my boss, that was SUPPOSE to be yours, a punishment will have to take place."

"What is that suppose to mean," Steve asked.

"Your daughter truly is beautiful when she is sleeping, Bryce," Carlos said.

"Listen to me you ungrateful son of a bitch," I said, "If you so much touch my family, I will kill you."

"Well good thing, I won't be doing the killing then," Carlos said, "It is amazing how much you can pay someone these days to kill another person."

"CARLOS," I said, "Please. Give me more time. I will find your boss."

"It's too late for that, Bryce," Carlos said, "You are doing a piss poor job at it, so now I have to take over. Oh, and Steve is it, don't try to track this number, by the time you get to my location, the phone will be here and I will be long gone."

"Carlos," I said.

"Adios, mi amigos," Carlos said hanging up.

"CARLOS," I screamed.

Danny came back into the interrogation room, panting from running all the way back down from their central HQ.

"No luck," Danny said, "We tried but we couldn't lock in on the signal."

"It wouldn't have mattered either way," Steve said walking around and undoing my cuffs, "He would have been long gone by the time we got there."

When both cuffs were released, I grabbed Steve by the collar of his shirt and forced him against the cement wall. Danny came over and tried to break us apart.

"ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS HELP ME FIND CARLOS'S BOSS," I screamed in Steve's face, "And what do you do instead, you arrest me. Tell me that I am working for that SOB. You want the truth, here it is. Carlos was going to kill my wife and kid and everyone of your guys family, if I didn't deliver his boss to him. I didn't care what the hell was going to happen to his boss, all I cared about was my family and yours."

I released Steve and then walked over to the other side of the room, taking a deep breath and then crumbling to the ground.

"My daughter is only 2 weeks old," I cried, "And I made a promise to protect her for the rest of my life. I looked into her very beautiful blue eyes and told her that and she smiled when I said that. But what do I do? I go away from my wife and her, come here and think that Nora and I can take this man on. He always is one step ahead of us."

I placed my knees to my chest and cried into my hands. Danny then let out a sigh and came over by me and sat down next to me.

"Let me tell you something," Danny said, "6 years ago, my daughter Grace, was taken from me by a man I thought I trusted, I gave anything to make sure that she was safe. And that included never ever giving up. So he is a step ahead of you, then you take two steps ahead of him. You aren't alone in this fight, Bryce. You got us. And you got your team back home."

I took a deep breath and then said, "Thank you, Danny."

"We are going to catch this son of bitch and his boss," Danny said, "But we can only do that together."

Danny stood up and then put his hand out, I grabbed it and stood up. Looking over at Steve I said, "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry," Steve said, "Worse things have happened to me in here, trust me."

I smiled a bit and then walked out of the integration room.
