*Harry's POV*

Hermione and Riley sat on some desks while I tried summoning some pillows they had gathered, I was practicing the spell in order to get my broom from far away. Hopefully this plan will work, I've been working on the spell for some time when Riley grabbed her sides and groaned in pain.

"Everything alright?" Hermione and I asked as she groaned.

Riley nodded slowly and sighed, "I'm starving!"

Hermione laughed and shook her head, "I think you'll live."

"Do you think you'll be alright for the first task Harry?"

I nodded slowly, I didn't know how I felt about fighting a dragon but if I could get my firebolt I should be alright. I took a deep breath and smiled before going back to practicing.

After all the champions were chosen, Ron and I had a falling out. Since then, we haven't been on speaking terms—which meant that Riley and Hermione were forced to run between us, or at least that's what Hermione did. Riley seemed to be more lenient towards me, she would talk to Ron frequently but Riley mostly stuck by my side instead of running between Ron and I. Hagrid had shown me that the first task involved dragons, I figured I would be the better person and let Cedric know; one day after morning classes Riley and I found him with a bunch of his friends—I pulled him to the side.

"The first task is dragons," I told him.

"Are you sure?" Cedric whispered.

Riley and I nodded and he gave us a thanks before going back to his friends, as we walked away into the Great Hall we heard a snide voice call from behind us.

"Why so tense Potter?" We froze and turned to face Draco Malfoy who was smirking at us.

"What do you want Malfoy?" I groaned. Riley pulled on my arm, cautioning me not to do anything foolish.

"I made a bet with my father you see, I don't think you'll last ten minutes in this tornament. He disagrees, he thinks you won't last five."

"Shove off Malfoy," Riley stepped forward and muttered.

Malfoy smirked, "look at little Riley sticking up to people," he began to approach us and soon he was within an inch of Riley's face. "How dare you try and stick up to me you filthy blo-"

In a flash I saw Riley's wand hitting Draco's throat as Riley took a step closer to him, "what did you call me, cousin?"

"Be careful, Daxt-"

Riley snapped her wand against Draco's throat, sending him into a coughing fit. Draco seemed to whimper as he took in the small girl who now had a look that could kill on her face, Draco shook his head. Riley smirked and stepped back, "that's what I thought. Let's go Harry."

We turned to leave and I heard Malfoy from behind, "I'll teach you to turn your backs on me."

I turned to hit him with a hex but someone beat me to it, floating where Draco had been standing was a pure white ferret. I began laughing as Mad-eye Moody stuck the Draco-ferret down one of his goon's pants, McGonagall was standing next to us and shouting at Moody to stop—when he did Draco ran away in fear calling Moody a crack-pot old fool and that his father will hear about this incident.

I glanced over at Riley and noticed that she was wiping her eyes quietly; I wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into a hug as she cried into my chest. Whatever Draco was trying to say, it sure had hurt Riley. My heart broke as I felt her shake slightly.
