~Last Day in Fiji~
"Somewhere beyond the sea...somewhere waiting for me..." Bobby Darin's voice rang out softly from the kitchen. I lifted the cool, cotton sheet off of me, and sat up. Ethan was obviously the cause of the music coming from the kitchen/living room. I smiled to myself. How did I get so lucky to marry that boy? I reached for my phone, checking the time. 8:50am. Since it's our last day, Ethan said he wants to do one more thing which he hasn't told me, but we have to leave for the airport at 3:30.
I put on one of Ethan's sweatshirts I brought, because it's my favorite, with '4OU' printed on the front, and a big 'E' on the back. I stood up and put my ear to the bamboo door, hearing Ethan quietly singing and humming along. I giggled, pushing the door open. He was standing in the kitchen in only a pair of gray sweatpants, his toned arm and back muscles moving with everything he did.
I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him from behind.
"Good morning sweet thang." He said.
"Morning Ethan." I said, resting my chin on his shoulder as he finished making a bowl of fruit salad.
"Aw shoot." He said suddenly, reaching forward on the countertop to the waffle maker, he opened the lid to dark golden waffles.
"That was a close one, Dolan." I said, smiling. He turned around and looked at me, trying not to smile.
"Breakfast is served, malady." He said, plating the waffles and putting them on the table, alongside the fruit salad. He walked back to me, and pulled out my chair for me, pouring me a smoothie.
"Thank you kind sir. This looks delicious." I winked. We both laughed. That's one of the things about being with Ethan. We can both be ourselves and laugh at the stupid shit we say and do.
---After Breakfast---
"First, go change into a swimsuit and then we're going to the beach." Ethan told me.
"Okay." I said, putting my hand on his shoulder, leaning up and kissing him on the cheek. I walked to our room and I picked out 2 different swimsuits, a black bandeau, and a white bikini. I decided on the bikini and changed into it. I grabbed my beach bag, and a towel. I heard Ethan, well I'm assuming it was or else I don't know who else, knock on the door.
"Lexi?" He asked.
"Yeah babe?" I replied, packing my bag.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"Yes." I said, opening the door. He was in a pair of black swim trunks, and was ready to go. I smiled, closing the door behind me as he took my hand.
"We're gonna surf." Ethan said smiling, as we walked out the front door to the car.
"Ethan, I can't surf!" I said, suddenly feeling sorry I don't know how to cause he seemed so happy about it.
"I'm gonna teach you." He said, letting go of my hand as he got into the driver's side door of the car. I still felt bad.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked after a few minutes of silence.
"I just feel bad. It's our last day and you planned out what were doing, but if you're teaching me how to surf, we won't have time to actually do what you want." I said.
"Stop, I know you can't surf, and that's what I want to do: teach you how. And you bet I'm gonna be the best damn teacher ever." He said, putting his hand on my leg, before pulling onto the road.
"Okay..." I said. We drove down the winding roads to the gravel parking lot at the beach. I stepped out of the car and felt the warm breeze against my sun-kissed tan skin. I looked out at the water, waves crashing against the sand, which was aesthetically pleasing to watch. Not gonna lie, I kinda feel intimidated to surf them.
"Where's the surfboards?" I asked Eth.
"Over there." He said, pointing to a little hut, with a rack full of surfboards on it, in all sizes and colors. I took his hand, as he rubbed his thumb on mine as we walked. He picked out a fairly long board, and then paid the guy in the hut.
"Ready?" He asked, smirking.
"To be completely honest, hell no." I said, taking a deep breath.
"Why not?" He asked.
"Cause..." I said, looking at the deep water. "It's just..."
"Can't swim?" He asked.
"Yes I can swim, we've gone swimming before." I said.
"What is it then?" He asked, giving up too easily.
"I'm scared of sharks." I said.
"Babe...remember that video Gray and I made? How I was scared of sharks? I'm not anymore and the reason why is cause I faced my fears, and you're going to learn to surf with me, and I'll protect you no matter what." He said, leaning in and kissing me.
"I'm only doing this cause I love you." I said, as we walked down the beach toward the water. I set my towel down and slipped off my sandals. Ethan had the surfboard in one hand, and my hand in the other, guiding me toward the water. We walked into the lukewarm clear blue water, until it got deep enough to our waists.
"Here, up you go." He said, lifting me onto the board, painted with hibiscus flowers. He put his hands on the board and pushed himself on too, his toned biceps flexing. My legs hung down into the water, as I straddled the board. He turned to face me. He leaned forward, kissing my forehead, before standing up, rocking the surfboard.
"Ethan!" I said laughing, clinging to the sides.
---
"That was so much fun!" I said, after he'd been teaching me and we'd been on the board for a few hours. Ethan was walking in the shoulder-high water, holding on to the board as I laid down on my stomach, facing and talking to Ethan. We were going back onto shore, as we have to leave soon for our flight home.
As we got onto the sand, I grabbed our towels and put on my sunglasses, throwing my wet hair into a messy bun. Ethan walked back to me, after he took the surfboard back.
"Shit, we have 45 minutes." He said, seeing the clock on the side of the hut. We ran to the car, frantically getting in.
"I pretty much just have to pack up my carry-on bag stuff." I said out loud. I looked out the window, tapping my fingers on the side of the door.
"I think we'll make it just in time." He winked, as we pulled into the driveway of the house.
---After the flight home---
We are now landing in Los Angeles, local time is currently 8:47 pm. Thanks for flying with us today. Have a great night. The pilot said over the speaker, as the plane touched down. We unbuckled our seatbelts, standing up after the flight. I'm exhausted.
"Here." Ethan said, handing me my bag from the overhead bin. I think we were both super tired. We walked out into the baggage claim and got our suitcases, then walked into the parking lot, finally finding our car that had been sitting in the airport parking lot. We drove home, listening to the radio, until we got home. We noticed Kale's car and Sam's car, along with Grayson's parked in front of the house. We got our things from the car and walked in the front door.
"We're home!" I said, stepping inside. We walked into the living room, as we hugged and greeted everyone.
"I have news." Sammy said smiling, looking at me and then Kale. "We're getting married!!" She exclaimed.
I was in shock. Kale isn't ready for marriage, and I've never trusted him all that much after he turned into a f-boy in high school. I didn't say anything for a minute.
"I, um, gotta go to bed..." I said, turning around and walking upstairs.
