Chapter 6

Second week into school. I can't express my hatred for Mondays.

"Alright class, I am back and I have decided to give you guys a seating plan!" Groans fill the classroom and the teacher's face says how much he knew it was going to piss us all off.

"Alright, now I will start from the back," he takes his sheet of paper coughing correcting his vocal cords "Asuka, Lili, Julia, Hwoarang, Aya, Jin, Alisa, Bob, Christie, Steve, Forest, Miharu, Shin and Xiaoyu." The worst thing was, the tables were in twos and unlucky me had to sit next to Jin.

"Now, I have paired you all up, you must create a poster on the Great Barrier Reef's Environment." Everyone looked confused and stunned, they had no idea.

"Sir, why Australia?" I ask, everyone turns to face me confused on how I know about the country.

"Ah, Aya, good pointing out skills! Now then, I have chosen to do that location because it is also a tourist attraction, now I want you all to find out what you can, and learn about the environment and find out why it is popular, now start." Mr Chaolan directs us to our seats handing out laptops between the pairs.

"How's your boyfriend?"

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me." Jin makes an accusation.

"For your information, he is not my boyfriend and is asking for my advice!" I roll my eyes snatching the laptop off him searching up The Great Barrier Reef.

"Okay, so why do you know so much about Australia then?"

"I was born there."

"Oh, so you're like one of those boxing Kangaroo type people?"

"No! I'm just an Australian!"

"Why'd you end up here?"

"It's a long story."

"Come on, tell me. I have nothing to do, plus you are stuck with me."

"Jin can you please stop asking questions."

"Oh so something really bad happened huh?"

"Yes Jin, something terrible!"

"Let me guess, you did drugs?"

"What? No!"

"You had to elope from murdering someone?"

"No!"

"Calm down, I was only joking!"

"Moving away was no joke Kazama, I had to leave because they're dead." I attempt to stay focused on the screen, but all I can see is Jin's eyes staring at me as if he felt something.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know..." I turn to him as tear rolls down my check. He takes his hand and wipes my tear away.

"My real parents adopted me out and my adopted parents died in a car accident, I have no idea if my family know that I exist."

"I'm sure they do." Jin comforts me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

"Ehem!" Mr Chaolan stands in front of Jin and I "Are you two cosy?" I look up and he had noticed I was crying.

"Can I have a breather?" Mr Chaolan nods, I almost jog out of the room heading towards the toilets. Once in the bathroom, I splash water over my face staring into the mirror before smashing it into pieces. My knuckles gash blood before the door swings open. I turn around in fear, but only to see Julia worry and look carefully at my hand.

"Come on, let's get you fixed up." Julia takes me to the nurse's office.

"Michelle! Can you heal her hand?" A woman who looks very much like Julia.

"Sure sweetie, you must be Aya, Julia has told me a bit about you." I was confused, I look from Michelle to Julia.

"This is Michelle, she is my adoptive mother, she found me when I was abandoned by my tribe." Michelle started taking small bits of glass out of my hand before wiping away the blood with a cloth and wrapping it in bandage.

"You should be okay now, you two should go back to class, and Aya if you ever want to talk with either Julia or I, you are more than welcome to come over."

I smile before leaving with Julia.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I think I'm just a little unwell."

"Why don't you come to mine for a while after school?"

"That really sounds like the perfect idea ever invented." Julia giggles, and we walk back into class. Thankfully no one stares and keeps their business to themselves.

"Are you going to be fine now you have broken a mirror?"

"Sorry sir, I've been through-"

"It's fine Miss Yamazaki, I know. Just continue on your assignment with Mr Kazama over there, I think he rather bored and has done nothing at all." I grin before nodding. Back in my seat, Mr Chaolan was right, he had done absolutely nothing but play Bubble Trouble.

"So have you done anything whilst I was gone?"

"No progress, I was waiting for the professional."

"I've actually never been there, I hope you know that."

"Good one!" Jin rolls his eyes, I continue on with the assignment.
