Chapter 5

Veronica POV

HeatherC - Cmon, we gotta go to the party tonight! It'll be big fun!
Veronica - I don't know, I've got a lot on my mind right now.
Heather - Cmon Veronica. It'll just be you and me.
Veronica - And a bunch of other people who I don't know! Excuse me that I don't feel like doing things with guys that I don't wanna do!
HeatherC - Just one night. Please.
Veronica - ...fine. But you owe me one!

Later that night I stood outside the local 7/11 wishing I hadn't even agreed to go to this dang party. I grabbed snacks from the counter and sighed to myself.

JD - Hey darling.
Veronica - Don't call me that. I know that you watch my stuff! I know that you are a giant crazed fan of me!
JD - So that's what you were doing in my house! So, I just think your interesting. It's not like there's anything good online these days.
Veronica - So I'm an exception?
JD - Fine, all admit it. I really like you, but, I didn't move to Ohio just so that I could be with you. I'm not that creepy. I promise.
Veronica - I had enough time to look at your profile Mr! You love me!
JD - Well....I....
HeatherC - VERONICA!!!!
Veronica - I don't really like my friends.
JD - I don't really like your friends either.

I smiled at JD. He may be a big fan of me and a kind of weird guy, but I like him.

Veronica - I gotta run, see ya later.
JD - Definitely.

The party was just like I expected. A bunch of drunk teenagers running around like it was the end of the world. I didn't feel like I belonged here. A couple of guys asked me where Kurt and Ram were. I sighed and told them that they were here, and they should probably just keep looking.

I knew my brother was devastated over what happened to Ram. I didn't think that his injury would be this bad, that he would have to stay in the hospital this long. I tried to not think about him but I had to.

I walked out to the back yard and pulled my phone and called my brother. Luckily he picked up. Atleast he was okay.

Kurt - Hey Veronica.
Veronica - Hey Kurt? Where are you?
Kurt - I should be asking you that. It sounds like your at a big party.
Veronica - I am, and I'm not enjoying it. Everyone is asking me where you are. I just want to make sure your okay.

Kurt POV

I looked around me. I was on a park bench on the dark and busy street. The rain was pouring down hard on me. I hadn't been out here long, and I was already soaked. I could just lie and tell Veronica that I'm okay, but I couldn't deal with lying right now.

Kurt - I'm on a street bench.
Veronica - In the middle of the night? It's pouring outside?
Kurt - Yeah....
Veronica - Is everything okay with Ram?
Kurt - It's the opposite. After he kissed me, his father punched him and now he's in even worse condition.
Veronica - Do...do you want me to pick you up?
Kurt - No, I'm okay. Go back to your party. I was just about to go home.
Veronica - Okay, be safe.
Kurt - I try.

I hung up and lifted myself off the bench. It was hard to know where I was going, but I was able to head home in a few minutes since we lived so close to the hospital.

Veronica POV

I walked back inside to see Heather looking right at me. She didn't look happy at all.

HeatherC - What's going on? You're being a big dud! Cmon! Let's party!
Veronica - Heather, I'm not feeling good. I've had a few drinks and, I don't know, I guess parties just aren't really my thing. I'm gonna go home.
HeatherC - Cmon Veronica! You can't go home!
Veronica - I have to I.....blech.
